Editorial Reviews

Review

75% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Reach for College! books help to fill the gap in college and career curricula for our students so they have equal access to resources to help them attend and succeed in college. We are a small [charter] school with a small staff so we are stretched to the limit. We don't try to reinvent the wheel. These books have allowed our small staff to better help our students with the college process and it has increased our college-going rate. --Counselor, Hospitality High, Washington, DC

The juniors at H.D. Woodson Senior High are extremely grateful to Reach for College! for allowing them to believe that they are able to go to college. The Reach for College! books made them more trusting about their career choices. . . and plans for their postsecondary experiences. --Teacher, Woodson High, Washington, DC

The rising aspiration of our students can certainly be attributed to the Reach for College! curriculum which employs a road map of strategies, tools and consistent encouragement throughout for students to pursue their career and postsecondary choices. --Principal, Spingarn High, Washington, DC

About the Author

Deborah Insel is an urban educator who founded Helping Teens Succeed, Inc. in Atlanta, GA and co-founded Reach for College! in Washington, DC to help low-income students get to college. This book (and the others in the series) distill her ten years of working directly with students who are usually the first in their families to go to college. The books are efficient, effective tools that students can use to prepare for and proceed through the complex college access maze. At least 75% of low-income students who use these books enroll in postsecondary education.
