Book Description

March 16, 2011
Deborah Shane is a tenacious woman who has transitioned through several careers. In 2006, Deborah made a decision to change her career life as she had known it over two decades. She wasn't laid off, downsized or fired. She made a thoughtful, voluntary decision to change her career path. This book is about career transition, not as a periodic occurance anymore, but as a way of life. Deborah has transformed herself from a rockin singer/published songwriter, teacher and award-winning broadcast radio sales professional into a author, branding strategist, nationally published writer, speaker and media host. In this exciting venture, Deborah has combined all of her skills and talents into a business that guides and motivates others through their career transition, business development and professional advancement. This book is Deborah's story, her process, and the lessons she's learned taking ther leap with faith to change her career direction. It is her hope that her story inspires and motivates people of any age to believe that the life and career they want is the life they can have. In addition to Deborah's first-hand experience, others who have reinvented, re-branded, and re-birthed themselves share their inspirational stories throughout the book. Learn from such career powerhouses as Tory Johnson, workplace contributor for ABC's Good Morning America and founder of WomenforHire.com, J.T. O'Donnell, founder of Careerealism.com, and CEO/Founder of SmallBizTrends.com Anita Campbell plus many more. The book offers lots of resources, including websites, blogs and books from some well-known career experts. As the finishing touch, Deborah has created a CAB-Career Action E-Book, a companion journal full of exercises and book excerpts that will help you discover your passion and determine your next career move. Deborah's Five Steps to Career Reinvention will help you uncover your new career possibilities, develop a bold, fresh persona, and establish a realistic and achievable career transition blueprint and plan. Are you ready to career transition and make the shift? If not now when?

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it when books are written from experience! May 26, 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
The one thing that I really love about authors, presenters, and teachers are when they speak from experience. Deborah does a wonderful job of relating her life journey into a path of success for those who are in, or near, a career transition.

I just finished this book, and not only does she have an excellent, emotional, engaging story telling ability - but the stories she relates to the reader are authentic, passionate, and extremely relevant to the work she has you do.

If you read the book, and do the work, you're definitely going to be on the path of success. I speak from experience as well, because like Deborah, I did the scariest thing of my life in 1995, and stepped out completely on my own - starting my own business.

Deborah's journey very much paralleled my own life journey through those tough start-up times (being 'frozen with fear' but knowing I had to do something!)

Great work, Deborah!

5.0 out of 5 stars Seeing the Light May 11, 2011
Format:Paperback
I love getting my hands on new business books ... anything that will basically help light a fire under my bum. This book is definitely that kind of book! At the time I picked it up, I was on the verge of my own career transition and yet I hadn't completely committed to said transition. By the time I finished reading the author's personal story, I knew I needed a change in my life.
Not only did this book get me thinking about a more rewarding, fulfilling career, it also forced me to really look at myself and decide what path I was on -- to be a more empowered employee or to be a passionate entrepreneur.
The questions and exercises throughout had me digging deep to discover what I was really all about. As such, this week is my last week at a job I've held for the last 7.5 years and I'm striking out as an entrepreneur! This book helped me see the light!

Talentless, over-hyped so-called-writer who states the obvious, and in a web article was even 'booed" as writing at a caliber which would fail high school journalism class.
