I use this product as litter box medium for my ferrets. It truly does cut down on odors and is really easy to scoop and flush when soiled. For maximum cost-effectiveness, make sure to tease it apart before using, as the clumps tend to be larger than those of the regular formulation. Be sure to comparison shop online--some vendors are much cheaper than others (there's at least one good one on Amazon), resulting in prices that even with shipping are a fraction of list. Don't be put off by different packaging--if it's labeled "ultra," it's the same stuff.
BTW, the original, "non-ultra" formula is excellent as well; it hasn't been my experience that one has more effective odor control than the other, despite manufacturer claims. This one is nicer to look at (at least when clean, anyway), and the prices aren't that much different online.
My suggestion for getting the most bang for your buck (ferret owners will understand my method) is a cleaning routine that consists of removing and disposing of the Carefresh that's most soiled at the back of the pan; replacing it by pushing the remaining unsoiled Carefresh from the front and sides back; then replacing that with new Carefresh. This, in my experience, considerably reduces product waste (would that there were some way to reduce ferret waste as well), and always ensures that there's at least some clean litter in the pan.

Based on the product description and the customer review, I ordered a large package of this litter, Carefresh Ultra White Pet Bedding 50 liters (and also a small package of Online Only Carefresh Litter Ultra, to see if they are the same; they are). It works fine as a cage-floor litter, absorbing nicely, and there are no sharp edges for their tender feet. I have used it for 2 guinea pigs and 1 hamster (Sesame, Hershey, and Marshmallow).

But Marshmallow (the hamster) doesn't use it for her nest-building, doesn't shred it or move it or anything. If this happens to your nest-building small pet, provide something else for that purpose, as it's important for them to build a mounded nest that they crawl under to deposit the contents of their cheek pouches and to sleep contentedly.

A hint- the bedding material that Marshmallow likes best of all is torn strips of newspaper (I cut the pages at the fold, then twice across parallel to the fold, then tear it in narrow strips- I don't really know what the optimum size is, but a size about 2x3" doesn't interest her at all). By-the-by, her favorite chew toy is an old pillowcase or t shirt that I use over her cage in the daytime when she mostly sleeps. She drags it in and chews it up and pulls a big section over the top of her nest! Keeps her busy and happy.

After I found bugs in the wood shavings I was using with my rat I tried something else. That something else was this Carefresh bedding. He really seemed to like it. The texture is softer then paper though its made from the same stuff paper is. This stuff absorbs extreamly well. I like the white color because it makes it really easy to find urine in the cage and its vary easy to clean up.

I ordered this Carefresh Ultra product via Amazon because I was ordering it via a different product web site and that vendor was shipping me product that had to have been seconds or irregulars: The product looked and smelled dirty. The Carefresh Ultra ordered via this Amazon vendor arrived carefully packaged and is exactly like what you would purchase at PetSmart (clean, fresh smelling, etc.).

My only challenge is the price. Ordering through this Amazon vendor saves me only the trip to the store. The actual cost works out to be the same as retail. This is because the shipping costs are exorbitant, and once added to the product cost, they bring the price of the product back up to what I would pay in store. My typical reason for shopping Amazon is to be more cost-effective - and this product is not. The one way to justify customers ordering this product via Amazon would be for the vendor to adjust the product or shipping costs.

I've had 12 cavys and have one rabbit now. We change the bedding out daily, and have had to go to corncob, becasue this stuff is juts too pricey. It does do a great job, but if your animal doesn't need to use this as a bedding i'd suggest corn cob. My rabbit loves to dig in the cob and didn't seem to like the cloth bedding in his space. The cavys at times seemed to push the bedding out of there way as well. I did have a few that made little nest out of the bedding, and did prefer it over corn cob. I used both for a while, but now i just used two different kinda of corn cob.

I have been buying this Carefresh Ultra bedding for my bunnies for the past 4 years. My bunnies enjoy sleeping on it since its soft and gentle.

First off, this is a lot more bedding for the money than what we had been picking up at Walmart. Another added benefit, my daughters guinea pig likes it better. It seems softer than the regular bedding we had used and, for the best part, the odor emanating from her room has decreased tremendously. That and the price make this a great buy for your little pet. Petco shipped quickly and arrived undisturbed.

Im an animal loverr. I was told I couldnt have a dog in my apartment so instead I got 2 guineas 2 rabbits and 2 chinchillas :) Im very very happy with my choice! I will only use top quality products for myself so why would I do anything less for my pets? This bedding is really great for odor control. I did a test with my guineas and let me just say that this FOR SURE controls the odor LOL. However my guineas are large and they pee and poop everywhere I try to spot clean but after a few days they have just urinated all over it and I have to change it out. I have a very very large guinea pig cage that I got off here. The expandable one. I tried to do the half the bedding only on one side and half not but they still used the bathroom everywhere. So needless to say I use up 75% of the bag on just the guineas cage the rest goes in my large rabbit cage Thank GOD they dont use this in there little house they dig it out! I go through a bag a week only on my guineas and rabbits. So needless to say im spending ALOT on bedding when id rather be spending that money on cage extensions and toys so they can be happy!!!!

This bedding works great for our hamster. It's very absorbent and soft. It's easy to spot clean daily so there's no cage odor.

I think that CareFresh Ultra is one of the best bedding choices for small animal pets. It is absorbent, odorless, not dusty, and easy on the feet of small animal pets.
