In America, freedom of religion is taken for granted.,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Careful Enough? (Paperback)
In America, freedom of religion is taken for granted. In China, no such freedom exists. "Careful Enough?" is the story of Daniel and his family, who seek to establish a Christian Church in China, where evangelism is illegal. Faced with the law of man while trying to push God's word, Daniel's family must find a balance within their world of limited freedom. An intriguing novel of Christianity which will make American readers appreciate their religious liberty, "Careful Enough?" is a top pick for community library Christian Fiction collections.

True-to-life China descriptions,
This review is from: Careful Enough? (Paperback)
I like Careful Enough because it captures so much of what it is like to be a foreigner in China. Having been an American teacher in China for two years, I find myself relating to Daniel's experiences again and again. The author weaves in many details about China- city life, country life, food, culture, etc. As a Christian, I appreciate the insight the author brings to Daniel's struggles living out his faith in a context that seems uncomfortable and dangerous. Chuck's explanation of his reason for staying in China hits the mark. If you've been to China, Careful Enough is a wonderful way to relive the experience; if you haven't, it will make you want to go!

Pressures of missionary kids,
This review is from: Careful Enough? (Paperback)
I was excited to have received this book at a conference I recently attended. Both my daughter (age 12) and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. As a missionary kid myself, I could relate to some of the uncomfortable situations in which Daniel found himself. I felt like I was right there feeling what he was feeling. God has been continually increasing my burden for the salvation of the Chinese people and this book intensified that burden. I thougt the plot was very intriguing, and I thoroughly recommend it.
