I loved this product in its original form..a free flowing tube with two handles on either end. It heated up fast and stayed hot.My original wore out and i purchased a new one. When I opened the package i saw it was much different. (The one in this picture shows OLD one..)
The new one is sewn into 3 narrow chambers. The chambers don't hold heat. Why would they ruin a perfect product, I wondered.
Whoever bought the rights to Bed Buddy ruined the only thing that really helps arthritic necks..thanks alot for nothing new company, and by the way you will go out of business eventually when the buying public ends up returning this NOT original Bed Buddy

I don't know if things could go better any than this. A lot of times you order a product and try it- just to be disappointed. Not the case here. It is what it says and it does what it says- no if, ands, or butts.

The bed buddy comes wrapped up, and once you unfold it, its ready for use- no assembly required. My son grabbed it and immediately popped it in the microwave for one and a half minutes, slung it around his neck, and I've had trouble getting it back since!

As you can see, its really quick and easy to use. Unlike some hot packs, this one gets hot, and stays that way. I haven't timed it yet, but its a good payout for the short 1.5 minutes you stick it in the microwave.

And its soft too- so you can totally take it to bed with you without worrying about it scratching you or becoming uncomfortable. Perhaps its best feature is the two rings on either end- they're sturdy and can take some pullin'. These two rings make it VERY easy to place the pack where you want it. So if you have shoulder issues, you'll have no trouble slinging this thing around your neck. mid-back, low back, or where ever you need some heat.

Yes, I really like this product and will use it for a long time to come. After a day at the office, my neck can get sore and stressed out, and this little pack is just what I need- and I can use it within several minutes of walking in the door! Great for my low back too. I bought this because I needed an ice pack. Even after 10 hours in the freezer it didn't really get that cold, and didn't retain its cold for very long. May be good for heat, but should not be advertised as an ice pack because it simply doesn't function as one.

Maybe 5 or 6 years ago, I had purchased two of the Original Bed Buddies at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. They were a terrific product: Soft, durable, flexible, and made in the USA. I loved them. Now, they've been used extensively and are showing their age, and I wanted new clean ones so I ordered two of these. My original BB's were long enough to hang around your neck and drape on each side by several inches. They were extremely soft, and the filling inside could be shifted around so that the BB would mold where you needed it to mold. The new one's are about three to four inches shorter...they hang around your neck and stick out on each side because the product is so short and firm that it doesn't drape at all. They've added a seam down the middle that holds the filling tightly in place meaning the BB's aren't flexible or moldable at all. They're also made in China now, which I don't like. I ended up tearing both BB trying to take the stupid seam out (don't even bother trying to remove it as it leaves holes at both ends). This was, and could still be, a great product, but shortcuts by the company (to save money I'm assuming) have ruined another good product. I'm so saddened by this because I have recurring head and neck aches, and this product allowed me to apply heat exactly where I needed it. One last thing, the picture for this item looks like the original product I purchased several years ago. It is NOT a picture of the item they sent me.

i happily threw away my 20 year old bed buddy because it had a hole in it. i wish i had simply sewn it up. the new one is smaller and has the buckwheat in two chambers which makes it not as agile as you need it to be for various uses on the body. it's just okay. also, it says to heat for less than 2 minutes. if you follow those directions, your bed buddy will not be hot. you have to do at least 2 minutes to get heat relief.

We have used and loved the Bed Buddy for years and have bought around 8 of them. However we bought one this past summer and found that now they have a stitched seam down the middle of it leaving it hard and not as flexible. I have been trying to locate one of the old original without the seam. I saw this one and checked the pictures out carefully from this seller and the picture was of the old original one without the seam. However when I received it is the new one with the seam. I was so disappointed I thought was purchasing what was shown on the picture but was not : (
Buyer beware you may not be getting what is pictured.
Bed Buddies are better without the seam...more flexible, softer and molds to your body.

I bought this for my mom for Christmas and she LOVES it. She has arthritis and says it has "saved her life". If I knew a sock full of rice would have been such a hit, I would have got her one years ago. This is better than sliced bread!

What happened to the OLD bed buddy.

This product was manufactured in at least two different generations. In the first generation, the woven bag was stuffed with a lot more of the warmable material inside.

While the second generation prouct does produce heat and works reasoably well, it does not compare to the first go round.

My friend had bought me a Bed Buddy about 3 years ago. I loved it so much in the winter time to warm it in the microwave and put at my feet in bed. It makes you feel like you are warming your feet in front of a fireplace. I loved it so much till I ordered my brother and myself another one. He likes his also for his arthritis neck.

I recently bought this due to my back pains. It was the worst purchase i have ever made, and i will explain why.
First of all, you can only heat it up to 2 minutes, and no longer, and that dosent even make it that hot. Secondly, its smell is so irritating i tend to cover my nose when putting it on my body. Thirdly, it is extremely thing and small. Fourthly, i don't like the way it looks. Fifthly, the heat goes away EXTRAORDINARILY QUICKLY. Like just 5 minutes after you heat it its already cold. I dont have anything good to say about this, other than it is good for heating yourself up for perhaps a minute then it becomes useless. I do realize this has got a lot of good reviews, and that's why i purchased it, but trust me, this isnt even worth the eight dollars i paid for it. To tell you the truth, amazon isnt really a good site to buy heating packs. I suggest buying one of those cool looking heating packs they have in malls, they are way bigger, wrap around you, and the heat lasts for a very long time. one time i bought one from a mall that costed 50 dollars, and ive had it for years and i still love it. This product, however, cannot even compare to the one i bought at the mall. I guess you get what you pay for.
