I was SO excited to get this cast cover and protect my cast so I could shower normally! The product seems fairly well made; it uses a high-grade heavy plastic instead, not flimsy plastic bag-type material. It is attached to a ring that has a rubber diaphram with a small hole in it. It's very tight to get on although getting it on wasn't too hard. It completely covered my leg cast - I'm 5'11" and it went to the bottom of my knee/top of my calf. It was EXTREMELY tight, almost to the point of hurting, but it was spectacular at keeping the water out. I had no concerns about it leaking at all!

Removing it proved to be a bit difficult. I was able to slide it down my cast but the ring barely fit over my heel/foot and I ended up ripping the rubber diaphram because I used a finger to try and lift it (I thought I would rip it for sure just yanking it over my heel). I really liked the protector, but it's a bit snug for my large diameter legs and almost didn't make it over my foot. If you have thin or small legs, I don't think you will have any problems!

I think I'm going to buy another and see if I can find alternative ways of getting it over my heel without tearing the rubber. I am thinking about some sort of thin sock over my cast to help slip the ring over without it tearing. My advice: do not touch the rubber diaphram! You stand a better chance by pulling it over your foot with the ring - honest!

I'll update the review if I get another and have different results.

This is the best thing invented for those of us unfortunate enough to be in a cast. Very simple to use, just stretch the rubber seal around the cast and slide up your leg. Keeps water out. A shower has never felt better. This is worth the price. Easier than a garbage bag and works better too.

Currently casted after ankle surgery and this product will not even fit over the heel portion of the cast. I wear a size 13 shoe, for reference. It's also difficult to get that far by yourself. Would definitely not recommend this product, especially to someone that really needs it. It may be fine for small feet, but it looks like I'm relegated to a garbage bag for the duration... Thanks, Carex. Sigh.

I broke my ankle and had to wear a cast on my leg for about a month. I ordered this product through Amazon because none of the drugs stores (at that time) had any in stock. I had previous experience* with this product and wanted to purchase one to make bathing easier. Amazon offered (2) for less than the purchase price of *one, so I immediately ordered mine.

The product works well at keeping the water out of your cast, although it is a little cumbersome to put on and remove--due to the diaphragm that seals out the water. Moreover, I received this order from Amazon rather expeditiously, so I was able to use the product almost at the start of having my cast put on.

The actual product is pretty good, but I'm glad I got two instead of one, because the first one tore after removing it from my cast after about a week of use. The roughness of the cast was partially responsible, but I also felt that the diaphragm was not as durable as I had expected it to be. When I started using the second one however, I thought I'd try putting a long loose sock on first (such as a male's diabetic tube sock) that would cover all of my cast before putting the cast cover on. The sock (albeit difficult to stretch over the cast initially) really helped extend the life of the product by preventing whatever sharp edges that were on the cast from tearing through the diaphragm! It also made it a lot easier to put on and remove the cover each time. Taking this extra step actually prevented me from tearing the second cast cover.

PROS:
Amazon delivered this product within (2) days after ordering it.

I've used a cast protector before so was surprised to see this one had a big ring at the top. The other one didn't. I remembered how much pressure was exerted on the opening and how hard it was to pull the cast protector on. I mean you have to get a great big cast through a little, tight opening. The other one (without the ring) was hard to pull up. When I looked at this, I figured they must have taken all the pressure into account in the design process and probably wrapped the plastic covering around something several times so that it wouldn't pull out.

No such luck. Today on ONLY the 6th use, the plastic pulled free from the ring leaving a gaping hole. This thing is useless - don't buy it.

This is my first review but I'm so irritated about this product.

I used my cast protector twice before the rubber inside the ring tore. The vinyl protector is well made but the rubber gasket is too fragile and the hole for the leg is too small! I have small legs but was still uncomfortable with the cast protector on. I had to rush my shower so that I could remove the cover.
I have had a DVT in the past and honestly was afraid that circulation would be impeded if I left the protector in place.
