Making Life Easier,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Carex Universal Transfer Bench (Health and Beauty)
I recently broke my leg quite badly, and getting in and out of the shower was a major problem. In fact, it was downright dangerous. I used another type of shower chair, but I couldn't do it all by myself. Then I found this transfer bench, and took a chance on it. It is wonderful, and has made my recuperation time so much easier. It is sturdy, will never rust, and makes me feel secure and more independent. My only complaint was that it took longer to arrive than expected. But it was worth the wait.

Due to a very bad case of plantar faciitis, I was medically ordered to utilize a shower chair for 8 weeks. I reviewed several and determined this would fit my needs the best. We currently live in a small single wide mobile home and our tub is small. I was able to appropriately accommodate this chair to our bathroom. It is very sturdy and it cleans very easily. I felt confident when using it that it would not collapse. It easily broke apart for storage. During my almost 30 years of nursing, I've seen many different kinds of shower chairs and benches. This one is tops in my book.

I ordered this transfer bench and it is great. Just what I needed to get in and out of our tub. I don't need any help getting in and out. It is good and sturdy. It is easy to clean too. I am 75 and I broke my ankle, so no weight on that foot. I'm sure will use it for awhile even after I can put some weight on it. Thr price on amazon was good too. NMcG

I use this as a shower bench. The adjustable legs (with rubber feet) and back make for a secure sitting area even with a curved bottom tub. With two legs in the tub and two legs outside the tub, I am able to sit and lift my legs from outside the tub to inside the tub. I am satisfied with it, just wish I was in better shape so I didn't need one.

This is a very sturdy bench. The back fits on either side. If you are looking for a bathtub bench, this is a good one.

I was looking for a transport bench with a high poundage limit and found it with this one. Extremely sturdy, yet lightweight enough to remove from the tub when not needed. Expensive, but worth it!

This transfer bench has made taking a shower a joy for me. I was always nervous about falling. Now, I feel secure sitting to get in and out of the tub for a shower. It has made my life so much easier. The bench is very sturdy and easy to use. I love it!

We ordered this for my 85 year old mom to use during her stay with us at Christmas. It arrived just in time, but had a crack in the bench. As we had no time to return it before the Holiday, we patched it up with duct tape. The bench itself works well as a shower/bath aide, but the quality control at Carex leaves something to be desired.Amazon replaced this at no cost after the holiday and paid for shipping to my mom's home in Florida. Good customer service.

The bench is very well made and went together quickly. Slippery seat and smooth design made it much easier to get into the tub than my old one and the plastic legs won't rust. The one major problem was the tub floor of our 1 piece fiberglass tub and surround (standard type) is about 3-4 inches higher than is the bathroom floor. After raised the outside legs to make it level, the height to floor was extreme and I couldn't touch it with my feet (I'm 5'5".) We were able to pry out the inside adjusters and cut off ~3 inches of the round plastic legs with the chop saw. Had to smooth the melted edges before put the adjusters back in but the whole job only took 5 minutes with the right tools. Anyway, now the thing is perfect with the outside legs only extended about an inch.

Makes Showering Easy,

I recently had achilles tendon surgery, have been unable to put weight on my foot, and have had a cast. This bench has made getting in and out of my shower easy, although one word of caution: I have my bench situated so that it is under the flow of water coming from the shower head. If you position yours like this, make sure you are seated on the bench BEFORE turning on the shower head. The bench does tend to be a bit slick when wet!! The fact that part of the bench sits outside the tub and you can slide across it and, if you're like me, you can position the cast on the side so it is somewhat elevated, is a great thing. I also love having the back on the bench. It makes it easier to recline back when rinsing.
