3.0 out of 5 stars Shower Chair
The chair works great but like most normal bathtubs, the chair is a little to wide. Other than that it's great.

It's not mentioned in the description but the bottom part of the legs adjust by screwing in and out of the top part of the legs. This provides about a 5 inch range of height adjustment. With the legs fully extended, the height of the seat is about 21 inches. The bench is very strong and well made from molded plastic. There is no hardware - the legs slide into the base and lock in position. You would need to use a pen or something to depress the locking button when you want to remove the legs. This bench is also available with a backrest from amazon, but it costs $58 versus the bargin price or $25 for this one without the back. Here is the amazon page for the same bench including back: [...]

5.0 out of 5 stars Great purchase, January 14, 2008
This review is from: Carex Universal Bath Bench (Health and Beauty)
We bought this bath bench to replace the standard shower chair with a back and aluminum legs. This bath bench is SO MUCH BETTER - it is sturdier (and I'm a woman of ample size), easier to keep clean and because of the way the legs are constructed, no water can get inside them, so no kind of rusty/crusty-looking spots to worry about. Plus, the feet of this bath bench are much thicker and sturdier rubber than the conventional shower chair. That was why we had to toss our old one -one of the rubber feet wore through and we were afraid the bathtub would get scratched. Replacement feet were pretty expensive and in any case, as pleased as I am with this bath bench, it's probably a good thing I didn't spend $ on replacement parts for the old one. This bath bench is also a wonderful value and Amazon gave me free shipping (LOVE YOU AMAZON!!!) I'm very happy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Bath Bench Too Large for Residential Shower, January 4, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Carex Universal Bath Bench (Health and Beauty)
This bath bench is supposed to be a universal size but is too large for a residential shower. Size was not included in the description. The bench is an excellent product (very strong, height is adjustable)but is 21 inches long and 18 inches wide and takes up half the shower. I wish I could have used it.

I bought the stool when I was recovering from foot surgery and couldn't stand well. I looked at them at a local store first and this was the one recommended, then I bought it online. It's very stable, no concerns about tipping. I'm a heavy woman (over 200 lbs) and it feels fine. I have a 3/4 tub and it fits fine. There is no back to it, it's very simple. But I'm still using it as it's great when I need to shave my legs or work on my feet in the shower. And there is room for both the stool and me in the shower, I just leave it inside. It stays very clean, it's not susceptible to mold and mildew.

My mother is over-weight and has problems standing for very long. I bought this chair and it is awesome for her to use. It is very sturdy, and easy to put together compaired to the other one I purchased.

I ordered two of these shower stools, one for each shower and one is perfect, but the upstairs shower is smaller and the stool is simply too large for the space. I had looked for dimensions, but all that was posted was the stool was 19" x 6" which is wrong! I just measured and it is actually 20" x 19". It is sturdy (up to 400 lbs according to the ad) and a bit heavy to carry, but VERY comfortable to sit on. I would recommend it if you have a large shower--I don't have any idea how it would fit in a bath tub, as we have only shower stalls due to disabilities. A quality product (we have only had ours for a month or so), just measure carefully before ordering. My sister (who has the larger shower) loves hers! She is using the second stool as her vanity seat and I am looking for one that fits.

5.0 out of 5 stars SO STURDY!, January 19, 2011

Fantastic, fantastic shower stool. A worthwhile upgrade from the traditional metal leg/plastic seat shower stools I've seen over the years. This bench is enormously sturdy which is my favorite feature. I broke my leg several years ago and needed a stool for long-term use in the shower. This Carex Bench never so much as shakes an inch. It has a heavy, solid feel, without being ridiculously heavy. Plus, the cutout sides make it easy to lift for cleaning. It's been mold resistant, was a snap to setup, and even has adjustable rubber tipped legs to provide extra non-slick stability. I can't recommend it enough. The only drawback is the not-so fashionable style, but it's better then the "medical supply" feel of the older model shower stools, and quite frankly it's so comfortable I just don't care. The extra wide base does take up more room in the shower - but I liked that it's not at all cramped. This could definitely accommodate a big/tall user with ease. Also, the cutouts that allow for water run off of perfectly sized - they don't dig into your skin or leave marks - which has happened to me with other shower stools. Great buy!

I purchased this bench for my wife and she was well pleased with it. It is very well constructed with no parts that can rust like so many other ones we checked out. The bench was so easy to put together, just as described. You do not have to worry about it sliding out from under you as it remains in place in the tub. We have a narrow tub/shower and it fits. Anothewr nice thing is the shower head notch on either side, which comes in very handy. This is a sturdy bench and does very well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't be better., July 31, 2007
This review is from: Carex Universal Bath Bench (Health and Beauty)
When I ordered this bench I wasn't sure it would fit in my narrow built-in tub/shower. But it fits easily. It's sturdy and gives good support. One word of caution: If you shower standing up then sit to wash your hair, be sure to rinse the soapy water off before you sit down. A real plus is the adjustable leg height. Amazon makes ordering easy and saves me time and money by not having to run around looking for what I need.
