The jacket was a perfect fit, the color was what we expected and he loves it.
It's great Carhartt quality, Fits well, soft lining and a wide range of colors.
The jacket fits perfectly, is very warm in a cold wind, and the lining feels great.

I think i found my new favorite jacket.

Im always looking for Carhartt jackets or coats and i had the J140 which is basically the same but the outer shell is not as soft. This model is sandstone and is much softer and has a weathered look.

The liner is quilted which is much thicker than blanket or thermal lined types.Quilt (and Sherpa) liners are much more comfortable when wearing short sleeve shirts.

Its not as heavy as my other coats and yet keeps me nice and toasty even if its 30 deg outside.I can even wear this in colder climate if i layer it with a long sleeve thermal shirt which i prefer than a big bulky jacket.

In my experience Carhartt will last you a long time even if you abuse it and this one is no exception.I have a barn coat that i use at work for 11 years and still going strong.

You pay a little bit more for this jacket but if it last you a lifetime so what.

    Edit

Went up to the mountains today... snow,30 deg. and 50 mph gust.It was cold as hell but this jacket blocked the wind and kept me warm. All i had was a long sleeve t shirt underneath and i was comfortable.Definitely recommended to anybody looking for a warm jacket that is not too bulky.I really want another one with a different color coz i liked it so much.

Just be aware that Carhartt makes another jacket exactly like this but its not sandstone. Its just as good but this kind is a much softer outer shell.

I wanted to buy this jacket in order to replace my tired $120 North Face Bionic Jacket. So as to not look like yet another Bay Area drone, I decided to go with this Carhartt. After wearing this bad boy for 2 months, here's my 2-cent on this.

    PROS:
    - Made in USA. A big plus, if you ask me: not everyone can do banking or IT engineering. Good manufacturing jobs is essential. Carhartt does this.
    - Very sturdy, yet very nice looking, sort of urban revival of the bomber type jacket. I think it looks fantastic.
    - Comfortable and warm: blocks the wind easily, and then some.

    CONS:
    - It's *WARM*. And that makes it a bit uncomfortable anytime I get indoors, say in the train, at work or whatever. This jacket is made with some Wisconsin-type winter in mind, not the local watered-down kind (i.e. 40F).
    - It's NOT a replacement for a The North Face jacket, which is mostly a glorified, overpriced glazed piece of imported nylon designed to act as a windstopper.

Overall, though, I am hugely satisfied with this jacket. I love it, it looks good and will (obviously) keep me warm during our wild winter "storms".

This jacket is the best jacket. Living in utah it gets really cold and this jacket is very warm. Also very durable. This is actually the second jacket I have owned. I am just replacing the first one that I have own for nearly 10 years.

I live in Fairbanks, AK, where it frequently gets to 40 degrees below zero. I prefer cold temperatures so the average person would get more use out of this than me. There were only a handful of days where it got cold enough for me to use this jacket. The zipper pull is large enough that you can easily use the zipper with gloves on.

FYI to anyone considering purchasing it... This is an OUTER LAYER. If you are normally a size Large and wear a Large jacket with just a long sleeved t-shirt, it will feel way too big.

I received my coat today and it is like no other coat I own. Extremely warm and comfortable on the inside with a tough outer shell that will repel rain and snow and not become saturated in the process. This will be an everyday coat for me and has an everyday look to it, not just for the outdoors man. As far as size, I am 5'8" and 170 pounds, I ordered a medium. It is the perfect fit as far as sleeve length and length of the coat. I have broader shoulders and it fits me perfectly. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

Oh, did I mention that I ordered my coat the Tuesday evening before Thanksgiving and received it the day after Thanksgiving. Talk about expedient shipping, which was the "free shipping" service.

Washed it once in the washing machine and it's already showing wear like it's 10 years old on the inside. Inside of the jacket is already coming apart.

Sent to my son it San Francisco. He LOVES it in a small. Had ordered in a Medium but sleeves and jacket were too big for him. He's 5'9" and slender.
Fits great and is very warm ( for SF)

Nice jacket but I normally take an XL and ordered in this size - a mistake as it was way too big. I'm 6' 2", 190lbs and 35" waist and XL was way too big for me. Returned the jacket for a large.
Update: Large is OK but I get the feeling that these are made on the assumption that the wearer has a bit of a beer gut.
