These shorts are well thought out in the pockets and loops attached. Besides being tuough and comfortable. The only bad thing was the seller I chose to purchase them from. I will buy some more and am looking at the full length pants for work also.

I got these for my boyfriend for his birthday and he just loves them. They are more lightweight than your average carhartts and a little longer. These are great for working outside in the summer, especially in Albuquerque were it is so hot and dry.
My only complaint is that when I ordered the shorts the image of the color I picked (Dark Khaki) out was allot darker than the actual shorts I received. It's not that big a deal because my boyfriend says he likes the color they are. If I were buying them for myself I would have been a little more irritated.

These shorts are great, and have awesome phone pocket. They are made of a strong fabric that is very resistant to tears. No snagging loops or pockets that get caught on equipment and tear a hole. I used to buy cheap cargo shorts at walmart that would last a year, maybe 2. These are noticeably stronger and more durable. Have not had them for a long time, but I estimate 3-5 year lifespan, maybe longer.

These shorts fit well, and the phone pocket is genius!! I am constantly putting tools in my pockets and beating up my phone, this side pocket eliminates that problem. Also, I live where it is quite hot, 100 plus most of the summer, yet these shorts are "light" enough to help me stay cool and rugged enough to be able to do most any work in.

These are great for all occasions. Comfortable, lower side pockets really great for phone/tools with out having to much extra fabric as in cargo shorts to make them look bulky. I have bought many stiles of the Carhart shorts and like them all.

Like very much and they wear like iron. I have other Carhartt work clothes and I think they are great.

These shorts will wear well. They have all the pockets I need, especially for my cell phone. I don't do construction work, but they're great for small projects around the property. For me, at 6'3" they could have been a bit longer. I seldom see a size 33. 34 is a bit big and 32 a bit small. I don't even need a belt with these, so the sizing is accurate.

I will go to the bottom line: I tried out a pair, and after a month bought two more as well as the long pants version. I don't care if it lacks variety, for my everyday short I don't need anything else.

The fit works well for me, allowing me great range of movement and never bunching up. The canvas is tough enough to go to work but soft enough to be comfortable. Its been about 5 months since the first pair so a little early to offer an opinion on its day-to-day durability but I am pretty confident the inside of the pockets (the part of my short which typically wear out first) will go longer than most other shorts I have owned.

I love the pockets, for some jobs can dispense with the tool belt by using the side pockets. Unlike many other shorts, I can easily get my hand into the change pocket.

These are great work shorts for the summer heat. They look great and are sturdy enough to stand up to abrasions and abuse of carpentry work, but light enough to stay comfortable. They are a lighter weight than the standard duck fabric of the classic Carhartt double-front carpenter pants. The loops and pockets are very useful. There is a new loop that I've not seen on Carhartt's work shorts before, on the right side between the front and rear pocket. It's a flat band of fabric that a tape measure can clip onto; I also find myself using it regularly for my try-square.

I definitely recommend these shorts for anyone in the trades whose job allows shorts in the summer. You can't go wrong with Carhartt, made in the good ol' US of A

Based on another review for this short someone with my waist size said they got a 34 for the best fit.

The 34 sort of hovers around my waist but never droops or puffs out in the front. So it fits but more of a loose fit style that goes to about mid knee with room for any thick thighed gentleman.

I liked this short so much (even my Note 3 fits in the side leg pocket) that I got another color in the 33 for slimmer fit. Gonna try the looser fitting 34s as MTB short with chamois shorts underneath.

UPDATE: The 33s fit PERFECT with slim fit all the way around (waist, thighs) but NOT tight. I'm 6ft / 180 pd and athletic build for reference. I also expect no shrinkage after washing as I noticed none in the 34s above.
