5.0 out of 5 stars great work coat
I work outside all year round. Use this in the fall, winter, and spring as a work coat. Holds off the water well due to its ruff finish, but is not waterproof. This model isnt sandstone washed, but that also gives it that more rugged tough appearance. Granted when its real cold, like below 0F degrees you might want to wear something else like a heavy sweater on...

3.0 out of 5 stars Polyester lined , NOT Flannel as advertised
Size is true to fit, but body liner is polyester, not flannel as advertised, plus the coat is a bit stiff. It's OK

5.0 out of 5 stars great work coat, December 27, 2010

I work outside all year round. Use this in the fall, winter, and spring as a work coat. Holds off the water well due to its ruff finish, but is not waterproof. This model isnt sandstone washed, but that also gives it that more rugged tough appearance. Granted when its real cold, like below 0F degrees you might want to wear something else like a heavy sweater on underneath, but over all great coat. I wear it crawling under homes, up on roofs, walking through brush, you name it. Last one I had lasted 6 years, and just finally wore out with what I would consider heavy abusive useage. Well worth the 70 bucks. For the Average consumer it should last many years. Runs a little large on sizes. Typically I wear a XL, but ended up using the large-tall size-I am 6 foot tall. Picture makes it look like a swearshirt zip up, but its much heavier then that. Run it through the dryer if it gets wet or after wash to "puff" up the insulation-use a paper clip or metal twist tie to hold the zipper pull or it will clank like crazy in the dryer. Also helps keep the zipper pull from breaking off during the wash and dry cycle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Warm, Tough, And Built To Last, December 7, 2010

This review is from: Carhartt Men's Duck Active Jac - Quilted Flannel Lined (Apparel)
Bought this jacket because I needed something warm when I work outside. Decided on this Carhartt and I'm glad I did. I can chop wood and handle all my dirty jobs, while staying warm and not worrying about any tearing or damage to my coat. The duck is extremely tough and the quilted lining inside is so comfy and warm... Overall the quality of this Carhartt is Superior to all and to say the least EXCELLENT!!! I am Extremely Happy to know that I will enjoy this product for many years to come..

5.0 out of 5 stars Great US manufactured jacket, October 24, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I wanted to buy this jacket in order to replace my tired $120 North Face Bionic Jacket. So as to not look like yet another Bay Area drone, I decided to go with this Carhartt. After wearing this bad boy for 2 months, here's my 2-cent on this.

PROS:
- Made in USA. A big plus, if you ask me: not everyone can do banking or IT engineering. Good manufacturing jobs is essential. Carhartt does this.
- Very sturdy, yet very nice looking, sort of urban revival of the bomber type jacket. I think it looks fantastic.
- Comfortable and warm: blocks the wind easily, and then some.

CONS:
- It's *WARM*. And that makes it a bit uncomfortable anytime I get indoors, say in the train, at work or whatever. This jacket is made with some Wisconsin-type winter in mind, not the local watered-down kind (i.e. 40F).
- It's NOT a replacement for a The North Face jacket, which is mostly a glorified, overpriced glazed piece of imported nylon designed to act as a windstopper.

Overall, though, I am hugely satisfied with this jacket. I love it, it looks good and will (obviously) keep me warm during our wild winter "storms".

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful product!, November 29, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My husband uses Carhartt jackets for work - and he's a coal miner. Since they held up so well to heavy-duty use, I bought one for my father. It'll probably last him 10+ years, considering we live in the south, but he loves it! It fits well, is extremely warm, and was a big hit.
It also came exactly 2 days after ordering. Wonderful service.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Value, November 19, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This jacket is a great value. The external Duck fabric is tough but not rough. I bought this and the Arctic lined jacket at the same time. The quilted lining seemed warmer, so I kept this one and returned the other. Other than the lining, both jackets are exactly the same. Below are a few key observations:

Pros:
1. Durable
2. Warm
3. Nylon lined sleeves keep shirt sleeves from riding up when putting the jacket on
4. Lot of jacket for the money
5. Wind resistant
6. Quality zipper

Cons:
1. This runs small. I weight 160 and the medium is well fitted. It also runs short.
2. As another reviewer noted, the front hand pockets are small and unlined. They will provide no warmth in the winter.
3. Stiff at first
4. Attached hood can get in the way

4.0 out of 5 stars It's HUGE!, October 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Carhartt Men's Duck Active Jac - Quilted Flannel Lined (Apparel)
I am 5'11 tall with 38' chest and normally wear M. But this M is HUGE! I have Carhartt thermal-lined active jacket which is also somewhat large for its size but this one is even bigger. It has enough space for three or four thick sweaters, and probably, you can easily put it on top of your favorite down parka for extra warmth in arctic expeditions.
It's too big around the waist. Unless you have big belly cold air can enter with ease from below. Just like thermal-lined jacket it leaves your neck open, so you'll want something like sweater with high collar or a neck gaiter. If you are about the same size as me, S is surely better.
On the other hand, the rest is warm enough. With sweater you can be comfortable at 0 degrees C, no problem.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mom, January 8, 2009
This item was purchased for a Christmas present for our son. He had previously had one but out grew it. That is why no other jacket but this one would do. He loves it. He depends on it for all his hunting and outside adventures.
