It fits well and I am pleased with the coat.
When my friends are complaining that their coats "aren't working," I'm warm and happy in my Carhartt.
Trust me - Carhartt hit a home run with this gem and if you catch it on an end of season sale like I did, snatch it up!

Product Description

Winter’s worst weather calls for carhartt's warmest choice: the down kalkaska snorkel parka. Featuring a nylon lining quilted with 550-fill down, it’s built of rugged 6-ounce, 100 percent nylon canvas with a durable water repellent finish plus fully taped waterproof seams. When winds threaten, pull up the insulated hood with adjustable barrel-lock closure. The front zipper also features inner and outer storm flaps to seal out the weather. To help retain body heat, there’s a draw-cord adjustable waist and bottom hem as well as inner-sleeve rib-knit storm cuffs. The parka includes two large inside pockets with snap closures, the left one with a media port to the inner garment. At the lower front, there are two top-entry insulated pockets with flaps and hook-and-loop closures, plus two side-entry hand-warmer pockets with zipper closures. More storage is provided by a left-sleeve pocket. Built carhartt strong, the parka features triple-stitched main seams.

I completely agree with the size comments, ordered my usual size- XL, jacket arrived but was at least 1 size too big. Exchanged it for a L and while still a little roomy, perfect for the multiple layers we wear up here in Minnesota. Since I recieved the jacket two weeks ago, we've had several days below zero with windchills around -25. Yes my legs and feet get cold but all parts covered by this jacket are toasty warm.

Quality is excellent (as you'd expect from Carhartt), multiple pockets are great and the side pockets are big enough to store gloves and also fit your hands in gloves for extra warmth. The hood is thick and serves its purpose in keeping the wind out.

This morning I faced a long walk into work with minus 4 degree temps and actually found myself chuckling a bit at how warm I was. I should also note that I am not a standard Minnesotan in that I don't like winter. Not at all. However, this jacket makes it much more tolerable.

This is definitely the best parka I have ever had. The only thing that has kept me from giving it 5 stars are two minor issues. And, I am being picky about them.

First, the velcro on the pockets is a bit too large. It makes getting into the pockets with gloves on a bit cumbersome. You pull the velcro patches loose and they restick when you try to put your hand in.
Second, the coat itself is a bit noisy. It has a krinkling plastic sound when moving.

Neither of those things would make me reject this coat, I can recommend that others purchase it without worry. It has kept me warm during this unseasonably cold Michigan winter.Other good features are an adjustable depth insulated hood, ample (both size and number of) pockets, and a zipper thats easy to use with gloves on

    Love the coat.
The hood is large, but it is meant for wearing a baklava and hardhat under it, honestly. Also, the fur trim strip is a snap on/off deal and there is a 'hidden' zippered compartment right along side the main zipper(upper left) that is a great place for storing it. Without the fur strip visibility goes up a lot if bareheaded under the hood.

The rest of the coat fits me well(I am 6'2 and 230lbs), I chose the 2xx tall. Lots of pockets, lots of Velcro. Big toggles might be better with mittens, but it is secure anyway.
I'm pretty sure it is discontinued now or going to be. I had to search hard to find the size I wanted, finally found it for $99 shipped, but in green(Okay with me for that price).

You could spend $300 and not get a coat as warm and durable. In fact most of the designer types that cost 3-4 hundred aren't even close to this.
So if you run cold and/or really want a genuine work class down parka, this is one.

This thing was designed for the jobsite in Alaska and similar environments.

Is it a jacket, a coat or a parka. Whatever it is, it's damn warm. I wear it for outdoor activity, that is walking the dog, clearing the drive, venturing into the woods. Sub zero temperatures.

This isn't a jacket for the drive into work or riding a bus. It's much to bulky, the hood is huge, donning the thing is somewhat of an exercise. And it takes up room when you hang it......I actually hang it from two adjacent pegs so as to reduce the likelihood it might get ripped.

Tons of pockets, some zipped and others with velcro. Has two zippers so you can unzip from the bottom to allow better mobility (walking or sitting) or to regulate temperature.

Coat fits perfectly, however the hood is so big it is unusable. When the hood is in use, I have zero visibility.

Excellent jacket! They do run a tad on the big side, so make sure you pay attention to the size chart when ordering. Overall, very sleek jacket!

My husband works outside doing construction so even before winter I am looking for warm cloths. This arrived just what he was looking for light weight water proof warm just to big. He is 6'1 167pounds and the medium was to big if I could have exchanged it for a small we think it would have fit fine.
