The following is my review of Carhartt's Ripstop Shorts. I already own two pair of the Ripstop Work Pants so I know how great Carhartt constructs their clothing. These shorts are constructed every bit as well as the pants. I learned from the pants that shrinkage from washing is not a concern. I ordered these shorts true to size and they fit perfectly. The length hits me right at the knees and the waist sits perfectly at the top of my hips. The thing I like most about this style of shorts and pants from Carhartt is all of the pocket space. They have the four regular pants pockets, two in front and two in back. These pockets are great for your wallet, coins etc. The pockets are heavily stitched and re-enforced with metal rivets. Located on the thighs are two large cargo pockets that snap closed with heavy duty metal snaps. The cargo pockets are tall and roomy, having room for a bottle of water or plenty of room for digital camera etc. On the left thigh is cell phone pocket. My LG phone fits perfectly into it. On the right side is a narrow pocket designed for pens and pencils. I love this pocket as I now always have at the ready a pen, a sharpie and a 80 lumens pen-light. These shorts are excellent. I highly reccommend them to everyone.

I listened to everyone saying how they ordered their shorts and they were too small. Several reviews said they were 2 sizes smaller than they expected so I got two sizes bigger hoping that would work. I think people are exaggerating because they are probably only one size smaller than the measurement. If you order 2 sizes bigger than you normally would then they will be too big. Just order one size larger than you normally would and you'll be good to go.
As for the shorts. They're Carhartt shorts - so they're good stuff. Durable material and stitching. The pockets are cool. The cut is good so they don't sag and aren't too tight in the crotch. I'm happy with them. I'll probably order another pair - this time just one size larger instead of two! But I will tighten up my belt and wear these anyway.
I should not that these are Made in Mexico - also the packaging was ridiculous. For just the one pair of shorts they sent them in a big box with a bunch of plastic air bags. I mean, let's be real here, these are fabric shorts. Just put them in a small box and quit wasting all the resources!

I hate sweating through my pants on those really humid days when Im on the job site. This shorts are perfect! Super durable but light weight. Not all bulky like most "work" shorts. They even have a reinforced corner on the pocket which is right where I keep my pocket knife!

I'm one of those guys that wears shorts all year round... even when it's 20 degrees out. I was a bit of a conundrum this winter when I needed to buy a couple of new pair of shorts. None of the local stores carry shorts in the winter and for some reason I couldn't find any place online to order my previously preferred brand of shorts. It was almost by accident that I stumbled onto these carhartt shorts at a local sporting goods store. Desperate for shorts to wear, I picked up a couple of pair.

And now I am glad that I did. I love these shorts and have since bought several more pair on Amazon. I love how heavy and sturdy the material is. I love how all of the pockets are reinforced. I love how they use metal buttons (instead of plastic) and rivets. I love the number and location of all of the pockets. And I love that the inseam is a little more snug than most shorts so that I can move around freely without worrying about putting strain on the crotch. I have actually cross country skied in these shorts.

These shorts are really great for someone who needs lots of pockets to hold small tools, nails, screws, etc while working. The material is very durable. In terms of fit, the waist size seems to be right on, but the seat and crotch were not as spacious as I would expect from a "relaxed" fit short, but that might be due to my butt and thighs not being as slim as they once were. The next time I'll try getting a size 1" larger to see if I can get a looser fit.

The ripstop feature is good for outdoor use and the back pockets, styled as they are like more conventional jeans, mark this product out from most of Carhartt’s enormous range. I like the ledge feature on the front pockets.

The lining of the main pockets is a better way of reinforcement than doubling material for the lower half, as in many other ranges.

The 11” inseam is more suitable for work and gives that little extra comfort when seated on hard or rough surfaces. The fit of my pair is great and accommodates well a butt, which is not the slimmest for a 34 waist! Great variety of colours.

Seem like a good product but they are way to small. I have a couple of pairs of 36" waste shorts from other brands and they fit fine. Some I even need a belt because they are a bit large. These things not only small, but cut in to you in all the "important" parts.

Carhart, build your products to size! Don't slap a number on there and expect your customer to guess.
