I bought this jacket for its classic styling. I don't work outside for a living; I just wanted a jacket I could knock around in and not worry about it getting damaged. The jacket is great and warmer than I expected, which is a plus. The sizing and fit is spot on, at about 25 inches in length, the front bottom hem just covers my belt buckle, which is perfect (I'm 5'9"). Chest size is surprisingly accurate, with my Medium being perfect for a 38 or 40. My only gripe is that the sleeves are ridiculously wide, as if they were made for Popeye or Mark McGwire. As the jacket breaks in, the sleeve width becomes a bit less noticeable. Also, I had to snip a lot of hanging threads with scissors; it is sad when even a company like Carhartt is outsourcing.

    Jacket ran a little small.
First time I ever had to return a product. Easiest thing
    I've ever done.
As far as the quality of the product, you couldn't buy better.
    Wears for ever.
Just didn't get the right size. Have reordered another style
    Cahartt in one size larger.
Try Carhartt, if you've never tried them.

I've worn out two of these jackets by everyday wear in harsh conditions. The second one is still serviceable, but too ragged for church. I'm 5'8, 150 pounds. A medium fits me perfectly with room underneath for a Carhartt vest or hoodie on cold days. This is my go-to jacket. Highly recommend this and all Carhartt garments.

I really like this jacket as it is stylish and heavy duty for my son to work in. I't's lightweight and great to use in early spring or fall.

This jacket is very well made and very nice looking. I ordered a small, I'm 5'6" and skinny. The length of the coat was spot on with my hip and looked good, the waist fit well with just enough extra room to be comfortable. The problem with this coat for me was that the width of the chest and arms are huge. I could have easily fit my thigh through the sleeve with room to spare and there was a lot of fabric bunching under the arms as a result. I understand that the arms are cut that way for movement and layering, but it is cut far larger than necessary for adequate movement in the chest and arms if you're skinny like me and have a 34" chest. I do HVAC for a living and would not want all this extra fabric hanging off my arms and chest while working, so I decided to return it. It would look and fit great on a short stocky guy who could fill out the chest and arms of the coat more.

I am at the top end of the measurements for the medium version of this jacket s I ordered that one. It was too small. Returned and reordered the Large--fits great, but be aware: THIS IS A SHORT JACKET. The photos show the bottom line of the jacket sitting well over the model's belt line, and this literally never happens for me. For me, the bottom line of the jacket sits just above the waistline of my pants, and often rides up higher when I'm working. That said I tend to wear long t-shirts and/or long hoodies under the jacket so pulling them down below the waistline of the jacket solves the problem. So, I'm pleased with the net result--but if you want a jacket that covers your waist at all times, look for something a little longer.

A very nice work jacket. You can beat it up, then just throw it in machine and it cleans right up. Just make sure you follow the wash/dry instructions. The blanket lining is warm on cold days, if there is a lot of physical activity. I worked in 32 degree F weather today (Seattle Ice Storm, 1-20-12) with just a t-shirt and this jacket and I was plenty warm. If you are just sitting around in the cold, then you probably need to layer. This jacket runs long in the sleeves, for my fit. It also has large sleeves. It makes you look like you're all buff and stuff, it's pretty cool.
