Great and tough. Though not for colder weather., April 8, 2010
I thought this was an over-priced jacket when I first saw it but many people I know who work in construction often rant about how good Carhartt is so I decided to give this one a try. Keep in mind that I live in CO and temperatures can drop to the single digits, also I own many of those "puffy" jackets. The problem with these "puffy" jackets is that they make me sweat, often I'd be outside shoveling snow or walking and my back and my armpits will start sweating in the middle of 30 degree weather. This is where this jacket accomplishes at what it does best, it let's the extra heat out of the jacket so you won't be sweating buckets in the middle of winter. Sounded like a marketing gimmick at first but I soon found out that it actually does work. When I first opened it I thought "Whoa! this is too thin to keep anyone warm." True the jacket is pretty thin, but it's actually warmer than most jackets I've owned. Just keep in mind that I wouldn't wear this in 30 degree weather or below. One time the temperature dropped to 8 degrees Fahrenheit and the jacket pretty much disappeared, but keep in mind that Carhartt also has warmer jackets for colder weather. However if you own this one, this can be solved by simply wearing a simple sweater underneath and that will keep you warm. I've been using this jacket for over a year and it's gotten dirt, snow, rain, paint, you name it. It still works like a miracle. I love it. I bought this jacket for the sole purpose of taking it to work but I like it so much I wear it everywhere now, so I'm planning on buying a new one.

Blue collar style, February 14, 2009
I've worked outside for just over 20 years. Experienced many types of winter/wet weather clothing. This is a fine item. I and most of my co-workers agree that this is some fine rain gear. The rain pants, although equally expensive, are worth every penny. Comfort, style, durability...you can't go wrong. Seriously.

Sizing is all wrong, February 16, 2011
This review is from: Carhartt Men's Men's Waterproof Breathable Coat (Apparel)
The jacket seems to be a fine jacket, though I'm not certain because I can't really wear it. I wear a medium in normal people clothes (including in other Carhartt jackets), a large in metrosexual people clothes, and a size 40-42 jacket. So I figured that a medium would fit, especially considering that the product's sizing chart says a 40 is medium. It doesn't fit, not even close. With my arms at my sides, my fingertips are just barely visible beneath the cuffs, and the velcro adjustment doesn't help much. I look like I'm 12 years old wearing my dad's clothes. These cuffs will end up in my soup, to be sure. I tried typing this review while wearing the jacket and had to stop to hike up the sleeves. No joke. I haven't worn a small in anything for about 30 years. Maybe I'm shrinking. I'm going to try to exchange this for a small. I read the seller reviews and saw several complaints about the arduous and lengthy return process. I'm not looking forward to this. That said, if the seller actually turns this around quickly, I will edit this review to reflect the service.
