The hood is large enough to put over a cap or riding helmet and the inside zipped pocket is perfect for a cell phone.

Carhartt is a well-known design for rugged, outdoor work-type clothing, but this jacket is soft to the touch, as well as warm from the thermal insulation. I am confident I will have many years of wear from this jacket. Also, I would like to comment on the speedy delivery, eventhough it was during Christmas time, I received the jacket before expected or estimated. I highly recommend this item.

I work in a wearhouse where I am always going in and out all day long. This sweatshirt is perfect for the job. It keeps me warm. A great gift idea for anybody working outside.

This jacket is nice heavy and warm. However, you can not wear it with a short sleeve. The thermal lining is incredibly rough and is only comfortable with a long sleeve. The back side also rides up the back a little and is not long enough if you have a long torso.

I changed my review to 4 stars because after wearing it all winter it proved to be Incredibly warm and durable.

I'm 5'9" and 170. The large fits pretty well, but it isn't really that warm.

The quality is excellent, and I can't see ever having a problem with the zippers, seams, or material, however, I can't see rating this at more than 3 stars given that it is advertised as "thermal-lined" and supposed to be warm. It is NOT that warm. I can't figure out why. It looks like it would be, but it just isn't.

I live in Southern California, 5 miles from the beach. I wear it during our nightly dog walks when it's cool outside. When it's cold out, this is just not warm enough without at least 1 other sweatshirt under it. If it drops much below 60 degrees out, I just can't see how anyone can claim it keeps them warm, unless maybe they're wearing it with multiple other layers, or they're on a run or playing sports or something.

Regarding the scratchy inside fabric that's been reported, well, ya, it's scratchy like a potato sack, but if you're wearing it when it's cold out, you're going to need multiple other layers anyway, so wear something that's not scratchy underneath it. A thinner sweatshirt or a long sleave shirt would work, for instance.

Based on my experience, I would probably buy a Carhartt product again, because this seems to be well constructed, but I would not be expecting the warmth level that the descriptions suggest.

This product is top of the line and very warm. The quality it very good and the product is very durable. I bought it for my 14 yr. old son and it is withstanding the abuse that a teenage boy can put it through. I am very pleased with this jacket.

I work at a warehouse and the bay doors are open when I unload a truck. So it gets very cold while I unload the trucks. So far I am still wearing it in almost February in New York. It has gotten down to about 5 and I was still warm except for my hands. No gloves. Overall great jacket.

The sweatshirt itself is awesomely warm and has a great fit to it. The only complaint I have is the hood is HUGE. When I pull the drawstrings it comes down and covers my face to my nose. Overall its great. I work night shift and last night it was about 20 degrees with a moderate wind and this was all I needed.

Purchased this hoodie because I wanted a nice thermal lined hoodie that would keep me warm and take a beating. Big beefy zipper. Internal cell phone pocket. I don't even need to wear a long sleeve shirt under this to stay warm, when I would typically wear a light hoodie and a dickies work coat. Only complaint would be the interior lining was rough like burlap when I got it. Just turned it inside out when I washed it and used a little fabric softener and the roughness went away in two washes.
