Great Coat, June 7, 2011
This review is from: Carhartt Women's Sandstone Arctic Quilt Lined Traditional Coat (Apparel)
I got this coat from Ebay last year because my job is working out in the elements and this is one of the warmest coats I own. Because of this coat I bought 2 other carhartts and I will only own Carhartts. I would highly recommend Carhartt!!

great work jacket for cold temps, February 8, 2010
I live in northern PA and most years we get a good bit of snow. I received this coat as a Christmas gift. It was on my wish list so I would have a good coat to wear when plowing my driveway and doing other work outside. For that purpose, it's great. It's very warm and rugged, all the stitching is well done and the materials and construction are high quality. It has pockets all over, both inside and out. It fits well and allows for a good range of motion. The sleeves are the perfect length and the coat is long enough to cover my "6 o'clock". I have only a few small gripes... 1) the inner drawstring is too low and does not hit at my waist, to accentuate any type of "female" fit, but is not all the way at the bottom like some coats use to seal out drafts. The drawstring seems to hit just above mid-hip; 2) I assume this is because I have not broken it in well enough yet, sometimes the stiffness of the fabric causes the collar to push up against my chin and almost get in the way; 3) the outside pockets are not lined, missing an easy opportunity to provide some semblance of "hand warmer" pockets. If the drawstring were higher, or the garment had some small straps for cinching on the outside (like some oilskin coats), allowing for a little more fitted look, this coat would accompany me to the office during the winter with no trouble. Overall, it suits my needs for the original intention (snow plowing and outside work) perfectly, and I am very pleased with the product.

I'm still cold, October 22, 2009
The jacket is very durable. It fits pretty big so I'm glad I didn't order a size bigger. I bought a size small and I could easily fit a puffy winter jacket underneath this one. It collects lint very easily though which will take some getting used to.
That all said, the reason I bought this jacket is because I will be working outside during the winter in Kansas where it can get below zero pretty easily with the windshield factor. When I saw that this was an arctic jacket, I thought it would be extremely warm and I could work outside in winter weather without having to put on 7 or so layers of shirts and jackets. I just got this today and it is 66 degrees inside, 44 outside. I was so cold outside, I tried to wrap the jacket so it would go around my front side twice. I was still cold inside with it zipped up fully and with the Velcro fastened.
The description says the jacket is heavy weight as far as the insulation goes. It is very thin. The jacket is rather bulky but that is just the shape of the jacket, not the insulation itself.
On the plus side, there is no room for air to get into the jacket except the bottom. Carhartt insured the wind won't penetrate through the middle where the zipper is or through the sleeves which is nice.
I just hope it will warm up when I'm working hard. It would be nice if it was warm when doing normal activity too though.
