I used this in my 30 gallon gold fish aquarium after having to pull regular aquarium rocks out of their mouths with tweezers and various other methods. This sand is enough to cover the bottom of my fish tank but only about an inch deep. The goldfish get the sand stuck in their nostrils but it hasn't seemed to bother them at all. Definitely a cleaner aquarium alternative and much more safe than gravel.

I was looking for black sand for fish tanks, so decided to try this out. This sand is quite shiny. It's almost metallic looking. Next to less reflective substrates, it looked a bit weird and too flashy. Doesn't look very natural as substrate, but might be what someone else is looking for in their tank. Also, it's super dark black, which was quite nice.

I like this sand a lot. Its very jet black and soft. I have sea shell and tried to stand them up in the tank but couldn't because they sliced right through the sand and onto the glass buttom fast. For fish that love to buried themselves under the sand, this is perfect.
But.
What I have notice were pieces of glass like sharp objects in this sand. It stands out because its a white color object. Its very flashy. I don't know what it is but this is the only drawback to the sand.
If you take your time while you rinse this in a bucket, you might see a few from the bag.
I wouldn't use this for say catfish, newts, claw frogs. I have Goldfish, they like to pick up the sand, kind of chew it and spit it out. So this does worried me that it might poke them.
I do plan on sticking with this sand but always keep an eye out looking for these objects.
I got about 25% left, using it in a 20 Gallon High tank.

Sand looks great in the aquarium. However, the instructions on the bag says to rinse sand before use which I did. I would not recommend rinsing it while sand is still in the bag. Rinse it in a bowl or some type of container to make sure that it is rinsed well. While rinsing it, the sand has a very oil substance that is released while rinsing it. If you don't rinse it well you will have a bunch of black stuff at the surface of your tank as well as on the edges where the water line hits. I recommend washing it our really well. Also wear some type of hand protection like gloves as the oily substance stained my hand for about 2 days. Other than that the product looks awesome in the tank. It just takes some preparation before you use it.
