3.0 out of 5 stars Caring for His Baby, January 10, 2012

This is the first book I read by this author. Nothing to me sticks out about this book. It's just a simple romance book. The only thing I did not understnad was the english terms for certian words they use in England. It was a nice book to read once.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cared for ever so slightly, March 20, 2008
By
I was drawn to the book 'Caring For His Baby' because I read the exerpt here on Amazon. I loved the set up between the characters and clearly had this past that needed to be mended. I wanted that explored, even with the complications that come with children, especially very young children.

Emily and Harry reconnect their lives in their European hometown. Emily has changed as has Harry, and now both have children. Emily has two, Harry's baby is only a few weeks old.

Emily's mothering instincts take over and wants to protect the baby as if she were her own. Though Emily resists, Harry depends on both of them as the book continues on.

I think if nothing else, the childrens' existence complicates what can be a very simple story. The children, instead of being the typical literary pranksters, are more about vehicles for giving each adult the opportunity to observe the other. I found that this choice for the children was rather secondary to their nature.

I wanted to find a story in here that was bigger than the initial offering. Instead I found a very simple 'boy lost girl back then but we'll be wierd and 19/20 years old about it now though we're nearly 30'

Short story with a very level dramatic cresendo.
