Book Description

April 17, 2001
Dealing with the sexual abuse of a child is painful and difficult. When it happens to children within our church families, we all are affected and wonder how to respond.
  • What help should we seek?
  • What support can we offer?
  • What healing is possible?
  • What can we do to prevent abuse in the future?
In this warm and hopeful book, R. Timothy Kearney shows how healing, justice, forgiveness, restoration and protection can come through God's people in the Christian community.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource, October 11, 2007
This review is from: Caring for Sexually Abused Children: A Handbook for Families & Churches (Paperback)
This book is an excellent resource if you need to help a child through the admission stages of sexual abuse. It helps you deal with the child and his/her family. It does not give as much help as I expected for the child who has already openly shared his/her abuse and is dealing with the feelings that come with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Caring for sexually abused children, November 20, 2011

This review is from: Caring for Sexually Abused Children: A Handbook for Families & Churches (Paperback)
Just what is needed for the church and layperson. Covers every step, from how to recognize signs of sexual abuse, what to do upon first suspicion, reporting, and what will likely take place. Also addresses how to get/provide help and support for the victim and family. Emphasizes the need for every church to develop a plan to follow to prevent this from happening and steps to take if suspicion should occur. This information will be appropriate for any family or organization. Highly recommend it.
