5.0 out of 5 stars An imaginative adventure.
My two year old daughter and me thoroughly enjoy reading this book. I find Carl's responsible behavior with the children to be both silly and endearing. My daughter constantly finds a different interpretation to each page of this book with every reading. My child was not afraid in the least. 3.0 out of 5 stars confusing storyline
My son and I found this book to be less satisfying than other books about Carl (my son's favorite dog! :)The storyline is confusing and there are too many unnecessary details in the pictures. It looks like Alexandra Day switched to watercolors in this book and that was not a good change because pictures are not clear now.

My two year old daughter and me thoroughly enjoy reading this book. I find Carl's responsible behavior with the children to be both silly and endearing. My daughter constantly finds a different interpretation to each page of this book with every reading. My child was not afraid in the least. This book is meant to be a thrilling fantasy that every kid (I believe) dreams about. Imagine, a big old loveable dog caring for children while the teacher helplessly watches from the outside. What child has not wished this if only for a second. A marvelous and brilliant execution of the beauty of a child's mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars MS DAY HURRAY, July 27, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Carl Goes to Daycare (Board book)
How Ms Day captures the heroic spirit of a good Rottwilder with so few words and so much beauty certainly makes any and all of her volumes a real treat. Thank you so very much Ms Day for showing the public that Rotties are more than tough guard dogs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book!, December 17, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Carl Goes to Daycare (Board book)
My 2 yo loves this book (and the other Carl books we have). He's a bit nervous around real dogs so I saw this book as a way to show him that dogs are fun and not scary. We have to read it every night (at least once) before bed. When I've had enough, he'll "read" it to himself.

Recommend this book highly to preschoolers and below. They love the pictures and insist that you still 'read' it to them. Instead have them read it to you by telling you what Carl is doing is in each picture. The botttom line: Carl is always very handy to have around the house.

5.0 out of 5 stars Preschool book, January 9, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Carl Goes to Daycare (Hardcover)
This was entertaining for all my grandchildren. It was a gift to one of them for Christmas and we looked at all the pages together and then each of the three preschoolers picked it up on their own to review it themselves. I am a great proponent of this author's books and this was just a delight. Would recommend this book to anyone with a preschooler.

My 3 year old daughter loves the Carl series. While she didn't enjoy this as much as "Carl goes shopping" she still reads it all the time. The books have very little dialog and let the child figure out the story for themselves.

There are also many new things for the child to discover in the illustrations each time they read the book. I highly recommend this series!

My two children enjoyed this story with no anxiety at all, and I'm sure they are typical. It is cute and funny book which most kids will enjoy tremendously.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't miss with Carl books!, June 13, 2010

My 2 year old loves the entire Carl series. Love the board book editions. The only complaint I have is that after reading several of the books, she is now trying to ride our cat like the baby in the books rides Carl! Too funny.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rotties will again, June 26, 2007
This review is from: Carl Goes to Daycare (Board book)
It is great to see a rottweiller as a protagonist in a book. This book shows how important a pet can be to all of the family members. Rottweillers are wonderful family pets, and this is a cute story of Carl and his favorite little girl.
