Product Description

What Vintage series would be complete without an ultra-versatile and simple to use drive pedal?  Funny, that’s what Carl said just before he introduced the DC Drive.  Just like Carl, this pedal has a few tricks up its sleeve.  Besides the typical Level, Tone and Drive knobs which obviously control the volume of the signal, the tone (hmmm, which knob?) and the amount of overdrive, Carl has smartly added a clean boost after the drive section, and a Regular/Fat switch….not so typical.  In Regular mode, the drive is crisp and clear, suitable for anything that calls for old-school drive….switch over to Fat and the drive gets thicker with a lot more gain, much more modern. Anyone who knows the Carl Martin line is familiar with his Clean Boost….a bump-up in signal volume that can be used either with your clean or overdriven sounds.  The result is a multi-use pedal that allows you to have a variety of rhythm and solo volumes at your feet. Like the rest of the Vintage line, the DC drive comes in that cool retro diecast housing with the equally cool chicken-head knobs and CM graphics.  The pedal can be powered by 9v battery but we recommend a regulated power supply like the Carl Martin Big John or CM PowerJack.

Quick and to the point....nice voicing on the distortion. Gets up into modern rock territory, great sounding and powerful boost. The only fault is the pedal is alittle on the large side. I'm very happy with it.

I just bought this about a month ago and let me tell you this bad boy just Screams! (Capital S!) Extrememly powerful, very versatile. I love the range the drive has from slight tube overdrive to crazy dirty tube overdrive, basically to some excellent distortion. It might not be enough for some metal-heads (only a few) but it's more than enough for any rock/blues playing, which is mostly what I use it for. The clean boost is incredible, it functions alone or fattens, expands and lifts your overdrive to heights she's never even seen before. Also the fat/reg switch totally beefs up low end and mids. The regular side is fantastic. This pedal is basically all I'll ever need for overdrive or distortion, except I would like to get a crazy fuzz pedal, but after that, I'm done I swear! ;) Only had one minor problem with input cutting in and out wasn't sure if it was cord or what, only happened once. Great customer service, I emailed the support, quick response they said mail it back and they'll check it out. Checked out A-OK and mailed back in 3 days (basically across the country NJ to AZ!) Still going strong!!!
My rig is as follows i play a very cheap and stock late 90's Epiphone Les Paul, through a Genz Benz El Diablo 60-TS head (tube)and Genz Benz 2x12 cab (jensen speakers). Oh how the tone in all its beauty still shines forth! (I recently played the pedal/head through i different cab (peavey speakers) it sounded like utter and complete crap. lifeless and flat. So i guess it really does matter as to what you're playing it through.
In conclusion it's like having 3 pedals in 1 (Boost, reg/fat overdrive)! I love it! If it was lost I'd by another, stolen I'd chase the hoodlum down and give them a flying kick punch maybe even a roundhouse. (Oh yeah it's that good!) All around excellent pedal, tone is king!
