How can an average Joe from the Midwest write a review about a book that won the Pulitzer? I was surprised that there wasn't a new edition available, but here was a bargain, kept for years in great condition by a library and it's patrons. I thank them and the person who rescued it from the library sale bin. I have now in my hands a book that encompasses almost all of Sandburg's published poetry and some others he chose to include. There is so much here about America, the America I grew up believing in. I believe the common man and woman is America and my friend Carl tells us how and why.
