5.0 out of 5 stars Bright and crisp. Worth every penny., November 8, 2008

I have used quite a few binoculars but this one is really the last one I will ever own.

The brightness, eye relief, and collimation are excellent. You can tell that an extraordinary amount of precision went into manufacturing these binoculars. The image is very cohesive creating a single large extremely bright image that rivals even binoculars with larger exit pupils. There is no eyestrain in any conditions and the lenses remain crystal clear and provide a high contrast image even in the most difficult foggy situations.

The price is high, but when you use them, you will know why.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tested many left with these, May 1, 2010

WOW, these bino's are amazing. I've looked through many cheap, mid priced, and high end bino's these are the one's I left with. One of the few cases where you get what you pay for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent image! Almost perfect body..., July 14, 2011
This review is from: Carl Zeiss Victory FL Binoculars (10x42) (Sports)
I recently purchased this pair of binos and they are very, very nice - IQ wise. And for $1899,- they better be! I use them for birding and I can say that it's a completely new experience.
I was very close to buying the green armored ones (at 300$ discount as stocks go out - they are not made anymore) but I hesitate due to the rumors on the net about the "plastic feel". Well, now that I spent the bucks for the black ones I can say that they do have this plastic feel too. I expected a more rubbery coating. I can't compare them with the green ones but I kind of regret that I spent 300 $ extra.
Don't get me wrong, they do not slip out of your hand, they are quite comfortable to hold and they feel absolutely fine only that I expected something little different. Everything works perfectly and the image is absolutely top notch. Quite a bit better than my '68 Jenoptem Dekarem (which I thought are the best).
Now back to the plastic/rubber armor: this is less "sticky" to your hand than the similar glass from Swarowsky and even the new EDG from Nikon (I had a quick test with both). Perhaps Leica is as well "soft", but I haven't touch that.
However, based on the image quality, sturdy construction, and price, Zeiss Victory FL are a better buy that the above competitors.
So, if the discontinued green armored pieces are still there for a lower price, I would definitely give them a chance.
