4.0 out of 5 stars Carlisle Day Tripper Paddle
This is a decent, low-cost, kayak paddle. Its aluminum frame is lightweight, and the fact that it can be broken down into two pieces makes it easy to store and handle. The adjustable feather is a nice feature for those paddlers who like to change their paddling style. 3.0 out of 5 stars Decent ... but there are better options in this price range
Purchased this paddle for a new kayak I had bought and although is is a decent paddle and works efficiently ... especially for a paddle in this price range, I have some qualms significant enough that I returned the paddle in exchange for another.

4.0 out of 5 stars Carlisle Day Tripper Paddle, September 29, 2010

This is a decent, low-cost, kayak paddle. Its aluminum frame is lightweight, and the fact that it can be broken down into two pieces makes it easy to store and handle. The adjustable feather is a nice feature for those paddlers who like to change their paddling style. I've used it to kayak about 20 miles or so on lakes so I can't say much about how appropriate it would be for river kayaking, but on the lake, I like it. Its sturdy enough to get you where you are paddling. One of the two shafts is oval shaped, while the other is round. The oval shaped shaft hurts my hand a bit after a few hours of paddling. I have found that this can be minimized by wearing cycling or weight lifting gloves. Still, I would prefer that both shafts be round and not oval.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Paddle, December 25, 2010

This is a decent paddle that does the job. It is heavy compared with other paddles that i've tried but for the price it is well worth it. Most other light paddles are 3 times the price of this one

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for backup / noobie paddles, August 29, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Despite the push pin connector need some adjustment before insertion, this Carlisle Day Tripper is worth the money. Returned the one bought from Dicks and kept this instead. We have a two person inflatable Kayak, and Wife use this on front. The length and overall balance is great for her height (5'4"). Even though the blades themselves are more angular / slanted then the other one I'd bought and use, it cuts water quite well.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent ... but there are better options in this price range, September 29, 2011
Purchased this paddle for a new kayak I had bought and although is is a decent paddle and works efficiently ... especially for a paddle in this price range, I have some qualms significant enough that I returned the paddle in exchange for another.

The latch connecting the two pieces of the paddle do not fit securely and there is some noticable "wobble" when the two pieces are connected. This also allows some water to enter the shaft of the paddle. I exchanged this paddle for a Bending Branches Whisper Paddle which is in the same price range (a little more expensive, but worth it for a "worry free" paddle) and has a much better and "tight" fit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great paddle for the price, July 26, 2010

These paddles are a great price and work much better than the flat surface type. I look for several different paddles and found these to be the best price for recreational kayaking.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm sold on Carlisle, September 3, 2010

This is a smartly engineered paddle. You get more "push" out of it, even though it's light and has a smaller paddle profile than the cheaper models. It's got style on top of that so I'm sold on this company's product line.

I wanted a second paddle and was pleased with the price and relative quality. Not a high performance paddle, but good enough for occasional use.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good recreational paddle!, December 7, 2011

The only thing that I found wrong with this paddle is that it leaks around the joint where the paddle attaches to the handle and drips on you trough the snap button holes. It's amazing how much water can drip in your lap in a one hour paddle. A little silicone around that joint before you use them works, if you want to stay dry. Once they have been used you almost have to drill out the pop rivet and dry them out, apply sealant and then pop rivet them back togeather in order to get the trapped water out. To bad they did not take this small extra step at the factory!

So i received this in the mail along with the 230cm length. I noticed the 240 has only 2 ways that it can be adjusted and the 230cm has 3 ways. I hope i didn't get a defect.
paddle looks tough and light enough for me and my girlfriend. Would recommend it to anyone whos looking for an average and convenient paddle.

Used the paddle last week in MN kayak fishing and for the money it's a great paddle for us beginner/intermediates in the sport.
