Certainly not a travel guide, January 23, 2009
This review is from: Carlo Scarpa. An Architectural Guide (Itineraries) (Paperback)
This book provides images of all of the projects found in much larger books and shows general locations of where each project is located on maps with very little information.
I was hoping for (based on amazons note of "itineraries") that this pamphlet would contain information that would help one locate any of these great works once in the actual cities. There ARE phone numbers which may be helpful if calling to ask for directions and such, but it would have been better if the author included this information so that we DON'T have to call!
This is not a book that you would bring with you on a European vacation because, like i said, there is little information that will help you once you're overseas.
The author should have used the "Le Corbusier Guide" by Deborah Gans as a starting template. That well thought our book walks you through some 50 remaining Corbusier masterpieces by includes websites, street addresses, detailed maps, and directions using public transportation - all of which are indispensable when on the road.
