Barbosa-Lima arranges and plays the Jobim masterfully. He really understands the samba/bossa nova guitar rhythm, offers us interesting and beautiful arrangement, and is an accomplished technical guitarist. I can't quite figure out why the Jobin and Gershwin are mixed on one CD, but much of the Gershwin is worth having as well.

THIS IS GREAT MUSIC JUST TO LISTEN TO...AS A PERSON APPRECIATIVE OF THE GUITAR.

IF YOU STUDY THE GUITAR ON A MORE INTIMATE LEVEL AND WANT TO LEARN TO PLAY SOME OF THE PIECES , THERE IS A BOOK THAT YOU MUST HAVE!!

EXACT TRANSCRIPTIONS OF 9 OF THE RECORDINGS ARE INCLUDED IN BOTH MUSIC NOTATION AND TABLATURE.

THE BOOK: GSP68 ANTONIO CARLOS JOBIM 9 PIECES ARRANGED FOR SOLO GUITAR BOTH THE CD AND THE BOOK ARE PROVIDING ME WITH MUCH SATISFACTION AND ENJOYMENT. I WOULD ENJOY SHARING YOUR PROGRESS, QUESTIONS,RECOMMENDATIONS AND GENERAL INPUT AT MY E-MAIL ADDRESS.

For pure virtuosity, I have heard few guitarists that can match this guy. If you love guitar music or bossa nova, definitely pick this one up. "Manha de Carnaval" and "Passeio no Rio" are breathtaking.

Yet, the guitar music is beautiful, but the pace seems a bit too slow in parts. He does not do justice to the song, "Stone Flower". I might but the CD anyway because Jobim is the Master!
