This book is not only a great tool when learning portuges but also an inside into the carioca culture. Each one of the forty short-stories are loaded with the everyday events of the life in the city of Rio.

Good, but not great
I tutor Portuguese at a university level. The director of Portuguese decided to use this book for fifth semester Portuguese and I don't think it was a good idea. The short stories in the book are great (I am a personal fan of Carlos Drummond de Andrade), but the exercises are not very clear and lack an answer key; even the director had a hard time deciding what the...

I tutor Portuguese at a university level. The director of Portuguese decided to use this book for fifth semester Portuguese and I don't think it was a good idea. The short stories in the book are great (I am a personal fan of Carlos Drummond de Andrade), but the exercises are not very clear and lack an answer key; even the director had a hard time deciding what the correct answers were. The book is good for someone interested in some personal study, but I do not believe it should be used in a classroom setting.
