More stars than there are in Heaven...,
By bossa_nova (Kent) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Carlos Lyra (Audio CD)
Various artists, indeed! Virtually a who's who of Brazilian music, this album from the Lumiar songbook series features a galaxy of stars. Every track is by a different artist and has a different treatment. All in Portugese, of course. If Lyra's songs had English lyrics they would be as well known as the handful of Jobim's that have been translated. This is a wonderful set of performances; my favourites are Caetano Veloso (alone with his guitar), Simone, Gal Costa and Jobim himself (with a little choir of his own daughters and other famous surnames). Only one track of the great Carlos himself, but you need a separate CD for him anyway. Highly recommended.

He is so good as Jobim,
By Magda P. Botafogo (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Carlos Lyra (Audio CD)
Only a few people in USA had the pleasure to listen to Carlos Lyra songs. He is fantastic ant this songbook shows the importance he has to all those stars that are singing his songs. Now he has his official site: www.carloslyra.com - and you can also see that he has many english versions for his songs made by himself. You will find many lyrics and a great Discography. I hope all of you enjoy as I do.
