Like many people, I had been taking a top quality multi supplied in daily packets and felt like it was a good choice. However, we are not all the same, and our vitamin choices can be tweaked for our special needs. My blood sugar had been creeping up into the "pre-diabetes" range, so I became proactive and did a good deal of reading about why this may be happening and what I could do about it. One of the books I read (and highly recommend) is Dr. Berstein's "Diabetes Solution" Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution: The Complete Guide to Achieving Normal Blood Sugars in which he mentions that excessive doses of vitamin C - beyond 400 mg/day - can raise blood glucose, and therefore also push up circulating insulin levels. My multi was supplying 5,000 mg of C. The Carlson Lab blend is right in line with Dr. Berstein's recommendation. Also, Dr. Bernstein mentions that high vitamin C can interfere with the enzymes used on blood glucose measuring strips, possibly crucial for those using home meters. Other ingredients in the formula, such as chromium, ALA, and inositol all play a part in improving insulin sensitivity for the cells which is especially important for those with pre-diabetes and type II diabetes. This is a very well thought out product.

When my doctor noticed increased glucose levels in my blood tests, I made a number of changes. One of those changes was to take these every day. It's hard to say if this change or another one made the difference (or a combination), but my glucose levels are back to normal!
