Best Salmon Oil from wild salmon.
Richard Max Hurst
I used this product for about three months and I have seen improvement in my skin, hair nails and even improvement in my vision.
Kimberly
I don't mind buying in large quantity because this has a long shelf life, even longer when stored in the fridge.

I started taking salmon oil pills several years ago as an anti-inflammatory. I also take Carlson multi-vitamins, and find them worth the money. One suggestion -- if your stomach is sensitive in the morning, take them at night or at meals.

I've taken omega 3 supplements for years. Flaxseed oil, fish oil, etc. Even took Carlson fish oil softgels. Since I started on the Carlson Salmon Oil softgels, I have seen a noticeable difference in my complexion. I take 3 a day and I've had many people tell me I "glow". I see it too! Not sure if this is directly attributed to the salmon oil or if is the combination of salmon oil and approx. a pint of blueberries/per day (also known to improve complexion) but I am loving it! I am sticking with it!

Unfortunately this oil has to be imported from Scandinavia, but it is free of toxins due to the 3rd party testing that they do. A little more expensive then something you can get from Costco or Walmart, but with Carlsons oils you ingest fatty acids and with others you get a little mercury.

According to Carlson, this product is made of 51% Norwegian farmed salmon oil (for the complete omega profile) and pumped up in the EPA and DHA department by 49% anchovy, mackerel, and sardine oils (these are generally higher in omega-3). Some of the oil is ethyl ester (the non-salmon part) and some in the triglyceride form (the salmon oil). Unlike many other salmon oil/blends out there, this one is listed on the IFOS.com site so you can check out the lab results for yourself. Good sign.

I have no doubt that MANY folks are buying this oil thinking it's 100% salmon oil, when it's not. And why shouldn't they think that? They might be better off calling it "Salmon and Fish Oil Blend" to be more clear and avoid confusion, misrepresentation and disappointment, i.e. returns. Plus, none of it is from wild caught salmon (or anything else), so there's that issue as well if you care about where your fish comes from (more and more folks do).

If you are looking for 100% wild salmon oil, you might check out the following products: Solgar Wild Alaskan Full Spectrum Omega Supplement, 120 Count as a great, natural source of omega-3s. Solgar has been around for a long time. Another superior wild salmon oil (for 100% sockeye oil) is Vital Choice. Family-owned fishery in Alaska, and it's in fish gelatin instead of beef gelatin. Vital Choice Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon Oil, Omega-3, 1000mg, 180-Count. My third choice would be New Chapter's WholeMega. Kind of expensive for what it is, but a decent alternative.

i did not like the fact that the label says Salmon oil but the ingredient list shows that it is not pure Salmon Oil. In addition the company does not have certification from independent organization of the product's quality.

I've been interested in balancing out my diet for some time but have heard mixed things on multivitamins. A large consensus of doctors and alternative health professionals have recommended fish oil as a good way to supplement your diet. I purchased the smaller bottle of Carlson's Salmon Fish Oil prior to this 230 count package and was very impressed.

The pills are somewhat large and smell funky but they go down easily enough and have given me no fish burps. My skin has cleared up a little bit (I don't have serious acne problems but will get a zit every now and then) and I've noticed that certain nagging pains in my joints have subsided a bit. I'm not sure if the latter effect is placebo or not but whatever.

If you're interested in rounding out your diet and want to take fish oil, I highly recommend this product.

Not being a medical doctor or a nutritionist I am not going to make any claims on the benefits of taking this dietary supplement other than stating that, after months of ingesting 2-3 of these 1000mg soft gels daily I continue to be in good health and I am not aware of any side effects. Am I in better health than I would have been had I not taken these? I don't know. That's what medical studies are for and one may trust them or one may not. However, getting back to this product and evaluating IT, this is what I can state as I can compare it with the generic supermarket brand I used to take in the past.

- it's more expensive but not A LOT more expensive
- the gels are softer - makes them easier to swallow
- the gels are a bit smaller - makes them easier to swallow
- unlike the generic brand, they do not seem to stay in my stomach for a long time, feeling like I swallowed a pebble
- certified by some FDA-registered lab(?) to be pure, potent and free of mercury, cadmium, lead, PDB's and a bunch of other contaminants
- no detectable fish smell

To conclude: this product appears to deliver the fish oil at a high level of purity, free of contaminants and packaged as a gel that's easy to swallow and digest. This is what I've been using for quite a while and I am happy enough to be staying with this brand for now.
