5.0 out of 5 stars The Best, June 4, 2002

This game is great if you like racing and blood and gore.In this game you can either use a controler,or the keyboard. There are 3 way of completing a level(each set is called a group)by killing all peds.,wasting all the cars,or going through all the check points(or lap)a certent amount of times. You have a lot of cars and when you get the right amount of credits you can the one you want, but only if you find it in the race your racing. You nave boxs and a type of barrel filled with either a power-up or something that happens to your car, peds.,or your oppenets. The red box has something to do with the people running around that you hit(be sure to get drunk peds. cause thats the funnest). The barrels have to do with your car.I don't know how many levels there are since I haven't completed it.You should try it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best game ever, August 1, 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Carmageddon 2: Carpocalypse Now (CD-ROM)
More controversial than GTA could ever dream of being this game holds nothing back and you wind up with the most twisted game ever. Amazingly it still holds up and is incredibly playable today with damage modeling I have yet to see done half as well. Hilarious power ups and with three ways to win every level the replayability is outrageous! The only hard part is finding a computer to play it on.

5.0 out of 5 stars INSANELY FUN, July 12, 2006
This review is from: Carmageddon 2: Carpocalypse Now (CD-ROM)
You gotta love this game!

This is one of the most hilariously violent games I've played! With goodies like the opponent repulsificator and the solid-granite car, delight and laughter takes me over every time sit down to play Carmageddon 2.

Exploding pedestrians, pedestrian flame-throwers, the pedestrian electro-[...] ray... these are power-ups you can get in the game! Whether you turn your opponents into scrap metal or act a fool around the gigantic levels, the fun does not stop.

And the game has a way of scaring you. I recall being terrified at so many moments while playing this game.

Examples: Is that Hans Abba around the corner? Where is that vicious dump truck? My car is in awful shape and I can't find a repair power-up.

You can pop-wheelies and in certain cases go so fast that you can commit suicide. The game has incredible value because you can purchase your trashed opponents cars. If you get into it, you will feel the need to progress.

The game is about much more than destroying other cars. Some missions are wacky beyond belief. One I recall involves killing mental patients that have escaped from an asylum. That is one of the harder missions.

The game is long, there are plenty of missions, and if you don't feel like killing people, you can always race. This game is off-the wall. It's like combining Grand Theft Auto, Simpsons Road Rage, and Burnout 3. And it's over 5 years old!

This game is a classic. Let us not forget the kangraoo bounce power-up. Nor the low gravity mode. Nor the hand-brake... man I love the hand-brake. If you have the time, play this game until you get good enough to appreciate the madness within.

Oh yeah - the sound track is by Iron Maiden. This game is awesome!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fierce driving and maximum carnage, May 24, 2002

This games rocks. You can finish a level in three ways - total all the other cars, kill all the people or complete the race. The race never gets finished so you have the joy of mauling innocent pedestrians and smashing into other cars. The detail is amazing, pedestrians lose limbs screaming and bleeding everywhere and cars become twisted and smashed beyond recognition, littering the track with pieces. This game will have you hooked for many months(You will come out spend pennies on each hour of fun). There are few games that combine the fun of smashing cars AND killing people. This is a must buy for anyone that plays video games.

With regard to the review giving it 4 stars - I couldn't imagine playing the game without a graphics card. I imagine it would [stink].

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Ever!, May 3, 2001

This is absolutely the BEST racing game I have ever played in my life! There are virtualy no flaws. I was hesitant to buy it because the graphics look bad on the box. Not true! The graphics rock. Though I prefer play control over graphics any day.The play control is so much like driving a real car . Race to the finish, or destroy the other cars, or destroy pedestrians or all of the above. go everywhere you want, whenever you want. Power ups are unlimited. I've owned this game for a year now and still haven't seen all of it. I will sell my soul for part three when I see it for the MAC. An absolute must have for anyone who likes car simulators. -----WARNING----- this game will ruin every other car game for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Think twice if you don't have a graphics card, February 21, 2000

I'm enjoying this game quite a bit, but without a graphics accelerator it can often be hard to see what's coming. Those who, like me, can't justify shelling out the bucks for a graphics card for the sake of one game, should be forewarned that it does make a difference in the game's enjoyability. But if you already have one, or plan on getting one for the sake of other software as well, then go for it! It's great fun. Actually I'd give it 3.5 stars without the card and 4.5 with, so average it out at 4.
