5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Read!
I read this book in 2 days. I was glued to it. I loved the characters and the action through the novel. This is bound for the Top Picks of 2007. Ali is a writer to watch. He has me hooked. Check it out!

3.0 out of 5 stars CARMELLO
This book was off the chain, It was a good read, but stuff was just moving so fast. People dying all over the place. Sister, brother, Uncle, Mother, Father. Dayum where was the loyalty at in this book... Cops, Fed's DEA dayum who was on the up and up... Everyone was a suspect. Wow, so I guess there is going to be a part 2 to this one. Yeah I'll read that one as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Story Line, February 20, 2007
This review is from: Carmello (Paperback)
I absolutely loved this book . I thought this urban fiction was going to be like the rest ,but it was a breath of fresh air . Just when I thought the drama was over it was another twist to the story, which kept me on pins and needles. I will recommend this book to anyone who loves urban Drama. Kudos to the author !!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it!, December 14, 2006
This review is from: Carmello (Paperback)
Carmello Deen wants nothing more than to live life on the straight and narrow. His brother Caine and sister China have other ideas. Wanting to restake their family claim in the drug game, Carmello reluctantly leads them back into the fast life. Of course it doesn't come without risks, and in the end the Deen family pays dearly. Again. Carmello has to make a decision. Stay in the game or get out.

Not since The Coldest Winter Ever and Dutch have I read a book that captivated me from the first page to well beyond the last. I LOVED this book. The characters and the story are so well detailed and just when you think you've figured out the story, you're thrown for another loop. Rahsaan Ali has yet another Essence best seller on his hands. He definitely has a spot in my top five authors.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat.. Couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next.. My mouth was wide open the whole time reading it.. The suspense was something else.. 2.0 out of 5 stars had to skip parts, December 27, 2009
By
This review is from: Carmello (Paperback)
This was the first book that I have read by this author and I really hope the books get better than this one. In many ways the book was unrealistic and the story line was a not easy to fallow. It really seamed all over the place. I am fan of urban lit. but this just seemed to forced. For instance, who would get back into the drug game so many times? I even had to skip some parts since I spent my money on the book and wanted to finish it. I had to skip to the parts that were somewhat interesting. I would not recommend that anyone purchase this book, however if you know someone with a copy....try it out. I think the fact that this book has been out for a while but doesn't have many reviews speaks volumes!

4.0 out of 5 stars Read it!, May 25, 2009

Carmello was not a typical choice for me, but I was happily surprised when I read it because the story and characters have life in them. Carmello is one of those books that goes by so fast while you're reading it, at the end of the last page you are a little disappointed that it's all over. Now you have to find something else to read, and it may not be as good. If you like the genre of urban fiction and you like an edgy story, you will like this book too.
