5.0 out of 5 stars Mmm good!
This product has disappeared from grocery shelves so it's great to find it online. Because it's a blend, it tastes better than Horlick's which is straight malt (and also not in groceries, though still occasionally in drugstores)

2.0 out of 5 stars Just Not The Same
I was looking for that long ago flavor of a malt shake. It did not come close. I added the milk and ice cream and vanilla as directed. Maybe it was the ice cream, I just don't know, but I was very disappointed. I think the malted flavor was very weak.

4.0 out of 5 stars Put it on top of ice cream!, September 2, 2008

I love spooning this on top of ice cream. I always loved the inside of the Whopper candy specifically because of the sweet and grainy malt bit, which you can in essence recreate by topping ice cream with this stuff and mixing it in. It works with just about any flavor ice cream you would want as well. As your ice cream melts, you get yourself an ice cream shake (you can add some milk to thin it out). I probably put way more than I really need to on top of my own servings, but with 4 packs to use up, I can afford to indulge a bit.

5.0 out of 5 stars S'Malts, as in "some more malts", December 2, 2007
Nostalgia moment: Perched on the counters of my mother's kitchen, my friends and I would eagerly await her magic mix of Carnation malt (generously added), Mayfield chocolate ice cream and enough milk to smooth it all together. She mixed it in a big bowl with a spoon and served the thick malts in cups with a spoon. Awesome chocolate malts! Those malts were perfect snacks for late night original series Star Trek. I am so glad to find it available here.

I have occasionally joked that this is drinkable heroin. When a really good "malted" is served to me, my eyes tend to cross as my lips embrace the straw and I will sometimes not stop sucking on the straw until that awful slurp at the bottom sounds off indicating my fix is ended. I have used Horlicks in the past and it's quite good, but I still consider Carnation as the real thing. I've had some "no-name" syrups and I believe another brand used to be available in the US, but they were useless.

I do think there's something genetic about my love of malt (just as I despise okra or green peppers). With this apparent withdrawal of Carnations from the supermarket shelves, it's obvious that the malted thing needs to be revitalized. Young versions of "ME" who have this genetic preference are waiting for this ultimate "comfort food" be a popular item once again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Carnation Malted Milk in original 13-ounce jars, July 12, 2007

I love malted milk drinks, but have not found other than chocolate flavored malted milk powder in a Knoxville store. However, I found plain malted milk on Amazon and have, on more than one occasion, satisfactorily ordered a supply so that I will not again run out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yummy~ Mmm..., August 21, 2008

I love it. It's great with milk or soy milk, it's great in cereal, it's great by itself! In fact, I love it by itself as a snack, though I know I'm probably not supposed to do that.

Just the right sweetness with a great aroma!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product!, December 15, 2007
This is so hard to find in grocery stores - so glad to find it here, and it's a better buy too! We've been sprinkling it on our breakfast cereals for four generations now (thanks grandma!). My children request it every morning. It's a great product!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended, November 11, 2007
In 1899, the Pacific Coast Condensed Milk Company first began to produce Carnation Sterilized Cream, and it was so spectacularly successful that the company later changed its name to the Carnation Milk Company. Over the years, Carnation has added a number of items to their product line, but I don't think that any has been as good at their Malted Milk Mix.

This product is great. First of all, you can mix it directly into milk, for a quick and delicious drink, or you can take my advice and add it to your homemade milkshakes to make a wonderful Chocolate Malt! This is a great product, one that you should get if you have kids, or just want to please yourself. I highly recommend this product!
