Such a unique and charming effort by Eddie Cantor in his latter years as he entertains (and truly captures)his audience single-handedly!Such classic humor and versatility fill the two-hour(or so) recording by Mr. Cantor as he reminisces about show business during the earlier part of the century. Accompanied only by two pianists (Arthur Siegel and George Tibbles), this "Apostle of Pep" treats his audience to many tunes he himself immortalized and other songs of long ago! A must for any Cantor fan as well as anyone appreciative of an era that's well worth remembering! That's Taste! That's Talent!That's Entertainment!

Carnegie Hall is a rare and personal insight into Cantor's exciting life in show business from the man himself, 40 years after hitting the stage with Gus Edward's Kid Kabaret. He intimates about all the wonderful friends he made along the way, including greats like Fanny Brice, WC Fields, and Bert Williams, among others, interspersing his story with fun songs that he made famous like Makin' Whoopee! Keep in mind, this is recorded from a stage show and is not a studio album. Nonetheless it's a must have for all nostalgia trippers and all, like myself, who are fans of the great Eddie Cantor!

This hitherto unavailable recording is a unique archival find. Eddie Cantor was nearing the end of a brilliant career in March of 1950 when he played to a sold-out audience at Carnegie Hall. Cantor shows the warmth and versatility that made him, perhaps, the best-loved performer of his generation. Although Cantor would continue to perform for another decade after this concert, ill health slowed him down in 1952. This is Cantor's farewell to the New York theater where he achieved his first great success in 1917.
