5.0 out of 5 stars Finnish rock is the new black, July 17, 2006
By
This review is from: Carnival of Rust (Audio CD)
I became a fan of Poets of the Fall ever since I heard their hit single, Lift, over a year ago. After that, I eagerly awaited their debut album, Signs of Life, and now this one. Uniquely, I have found that Carnival of Rust in fact exceeded my expectations and is, all things considered, the better of the two compilations. While I still haven't heard a song to compete with Lift, the overall quality of Carnival of Rust is better than the original, especially with regards to their lead vocalist, who displayes excellent quality and an unbelievable range. If you want to hear what I'm talking about, listen to Sorry Go 'Round first.

It is my sincere hope that Poets of the Fall continue to grow in popularity throughout the world as they have been. They clearly deserve recognition if they can produce music like this.

A sincere letter to those that run Amazon,

Do the American music scene a favor and carry their full length album. I am so weary of the radio with its one hit wonders; I need something fresh for my CD player. My first Poets of the Fall album still has not left my CD changer after over a year of owning it. The songs on this CD single import (and it's a single, not the full length album....do not be fooled!) are simply great, but hopefully AMAZON WILL CARRY THE FULL LENGTH DISC! If you have listened to the first album, or ever played "Max Payne 2" and heard that haunting song during the closing credits, you must look for this full length album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Brilliance....!!!!!!, October 3, 2006

Without a doubt its Poets best album. This album has both polish & shine as well as being an extremely well crafted album. Finnish lead singer Marko has the range of voice that would make native english singing artists blush with embarrassment. Their online website is where you find all the information about these guys. Simply brilliant is about the best compliment I have for this band. Hopefully they will crack the O'seas music scene soon and get the recognition they truly deserve. Buy this album!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You will NOT regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars POTF exceed all expectations, July 10, 2006
By
This review is from: Carnival of Rust (Audio CD)
Having just bought POTF's debut album, Signs of Life, a couple of weeks ago and listened to it over and over again, I made sure to get their second album just a couple of days later (this is possible because I live in Finland ;). I must confess that I was a bit worried whether they would live up to my very high expectations based on their excellent debut; it seemed almost impossible for any band to produce a second album in a row without any weak tracks - but they passed the test with flying colours! The new album opens with two somewhat 'heavier' songs (and I don't mean heavy rock as such), which are both great rock songs, just to be followed by the title song, a poignant guitar ballad that grows every time you listen to it. Well, that's actually true for each and every song on both this and their debut album (check out the great reviews for their debut album here on Amazon). Just like the first one, this album has it all: great upbeat rock songs, beautiful ballads, poetic lyrics and well-thought-of arrangements. I've only had time to listen to these two albums for a couple of weeks and the songs are still growing every time I hear them. However, I'm already quite sure that they'll stay among my favourite albums for many years to come. I'm not yet able to analyse every song, so suffice it to say that they are all great.

5.0 out of 5 stars CD's that have changed my playlist..., February 26, 2008
This review is from: Carnival Of Rust (MP3 Download)
In the world of music, there are a very few albums that have changed the way I listen to music. Chris Cornell's "Euphoria Morning," Audioslave's self titled first record, and now, "Carnival of Rust." From the moment it has entered my CD player, it has not left. I usually do not buy CD's, but I couldn't refuse this one. The five star ratings are not a joke, either. This album was maticulously crafted, and the lyrics and production are otherworldly. Listen to each song on full volume, and you will hear things that few other bands have been able to replicate. Buy it. Listen to it. Love it.
