It's missing a guitar solo and a drum solo. But, since Mick doesn't have a solo on the Carnival tour and Tommy's solo is only entertaining to Tommy (on this tour), it makes sense. I've heard others complain about the sound on this live release but, I think the sound is alright. It's actually pretty raw with the exception of Vince's vocals (overdubs). But, if you love Vince's singing like I love Vince's singing, then you know that it's all for the best (lol). This band has always been best served live and this 2 disc release isn't bad at all. Also, stay away from the U.S. version of this live release (thru Wal-Mart). It is censored and that means a whole lot of beeping during some of Vince's stage rants which makes the rants themselves even more annoying than usual.

Not exactly what one would call "original",but a fun live album that is worth owning,

I'll start off my review of this record with the whole truth, and nothing but the truth:I am one of the biggest Motley Crue fans on this planet. I have a huge collection of Motley Crue stuff, and when The Crue were on their "Carnival of Sins" tour,I got to see one of their shows that was in Indianapolis. And while originality does not exactly balance for this whole record,it is still a cool, fun, and exciting live CD that is a must have item for all fans of Motley Crue. What you have right here is a two disc Motley Crue live album that is in the vein of the "Live:Entertainment or Death" CD from 1999,except a little bit different. There is a wider collection of Motley songs performed live here than there were on L:EOD,and this is accompanying Motley Crue's "Carnival of Sins--Live" DVD that came out late last year. As stated by other reviews, some things from the COS--Live DVD are not present here (the bass solo and the MF speech from Nikki Sixx, the drum solo and "fan cam" from Tommy Lee,plus certain things that were said during the concert that is on the COS--Live DVD;mostly some of Vince Neil's stage rants),but most of this album has what most of the COS--Live DVD has. The live performances of the songs that are on both disc one and disc two of this CD sound really good,it is nice to hear a very wide selection of Motley Crue songs from the 80's and 90's performed live here,as well as the two new Crue songs that were on Motley's "Red,White, and Crue" anthology record from 2005 ("If I Die Tommorow" and "Sick Love Song"). Motley Crue really do want to keep their fans happy--and this CD does a great job at proving just that!!!!! Accompanying this CD is a nice booklet, which, while it may be impossible to put back in after you have taken it out of its case, has some great pictures of Motley Crue from the "Carnival of Sins" tour, and will serve as a nice treat for nostalgic Crue fans who saw Motley on the COS--Live tour and miss getting to see a great band live on a great tour. I give Nikki Sixx,Tommy Lee,Vince Neil, and Mick Mars all two thumbs up for letting this CD be released, and hopefully Sixx,Lee,Neil, and Mars will get another Motley Crue live record released after they have finished and released the new Motley Crue studio album (which,if I am correct,is going to start being recorded not too long from now). Rock On!!!!!!

Awesome CD!!!,

I have watched COS a million times and was dying to get this in audio. It's just as good as the DVD, actually it is the same as the DVD minus the solo from Nikki and Tommy. They have actually cleaned this up a little and fixed a few minor glitches. I've watched the DVD enough to know when Vince changed a line and if he did, they fixed it in this. For example, in Sick love song they fixed "the more you talk the less you seem to say" line and changed "Nikki drives me straight to hell" to "you drive me straight to hell." (he was messing with Nikki here on stage). Also during Girls, Girls, Girls Vince let the audience say the word "Tattletales" when he was doing the line, "Rocking in Atlanta at Tattletales" and I guess it didnt come up clear enough so they dubbed him saying the word in the audio. It also cut out alot of the personal dialogue the band members said with the crowd, such as the "What's up MF?!?!?" speech from Nikki. I wish they would have left all of the dialogue but if ppl wanted just the music from the dvd, it will suit them fine. I really wanted Tommy's drum solo though. I wish they would have left it. Otherwise, it's pretty awesome. Now you can get your live motley fix anywhere. Although I felt it was a little expensive, it's WORTH THE MONEY. Follow the advice of everyone and buy it here instead of Walmart. A friend got it from there and it was censored.

The perils of live shows,
This review is from: Carnival of Sins: Live (Exco) (Audio CD)
Blackie Lawless said it all when he commented on W.A.S.P.'s "Double Live Assassins", about going out and doing your show while the recording equipment runs in the background and hope it'll be the best show on the planet.I last saw Crue live at Hammersmith June 11, 2007. That venue is "notorious for its bad sound" (Lemmy, White Line Fever; Copyright 2002). The sound there is indeed dodgy....... but please don't anyone go and make the mistake of recording a live album at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It wasn't Mick's best day - he must have suffered from severe back pain all through the show. Tommy's drums are too dominating - although he has some truely brilliant moments - while Nikki on most songs is hardly audible. Vince started out promising and all let's get-a rockin', so did the audience, partaking enthusiastically in the choruses of the first three songs. From then on his vocal performance changes dramatically, becoming an estranged melody just about resembling the song he's currently singing. The audience somewhere along the line on the first CD lost much of their energy. CD 2 is better overall, the stand-out is Anarchy. I've never heard a better cover version of that song except for the Sex Pistols' own (and Sid's take on it). But Crue seem to go to great length to butcher all their 80s classics on this record. A veneer of alternative doom superimposes this whole concert. Sorry, that's not what Crue are about. They're about fun, but they audibly have a harder than usual time to convince the audience of that on that day.

The Return of The Crüe,

I was fortunate to actually go see the actual concert and I was amazed then, but then I discovered that a live album was to be released, I instantly wanted to own it. But, stupid me, I purchased the edited version from Wal-Mart so it is extensivly censored. I'll admit that the constant bleeping gets annoying but it doesn't change the quality of the music. This is a great disc to add to your CD collection. PARTY ON, DUDES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great sound quality and post production. A couple too many ballads, but what can you expect from a genuine hair band! Worth a listen for any old school Crue fan, probably for the new school fans as well.

This should be a motley crue fans dream come true. Their first live album was great this one is better. Plus most rock bands don't put out enough live albums. Now they have 2 double live albums and a live ep if you count the 2nd disc of deluxe new tattoe. Also they have 2 amazing live dvds, check those out too. This live album is a 5 out of 5, you get 23 live tracks, with good sound quality.

Awensome!!!!!!,
This review is from: Carnival of Sins: Live (Exco) (Audio CD)
This is really the very first ever live record of Mötley Crüe, 'cause "Entretaiment or Death" was just a recopilation of live tracks from everywhere, but this is a really live record like Iron Maiden's "Live After Death". If you want to cath The Crüe live this is the record you must have!!!!!

This is a great CD for die hard Motley Crue fans! Carnival of Sins was a great show and this CD makes me feel like I am still there watching them live. It is not a bad recording really and if you have been to see the concert, this is a must have! You will relive your time there! If you have seen the DVD of the concert, this sounds like what you heard on that. Awesome! For a die hard Motley fan, this is a good collection of songs and not bad quality. Just don't buy the Walmart version......edited.
