Bad, annoying, lame,

This review is from: Carnosaur II (DVD)
I usually like these low budget movies, but this one was just way too dumb. There's some problem at what we're originally told is a uranium mine, so a group of...I don't even know what they are - are called in to investigate. It's with these characters that the movie really lost all hope of being good. These folks all act like obnoxious teenagers, choosing to complain and whine loudly instead of trying to solve the problem. The dialogue doesn't make any sense; someone tells them something they don't want to hear and they say things like "You're sick!!!" I mean, that's not even a plauable reaction to have. I found myself wishing that when the characters were walking down a hallway, perhaps the writer and director would have actually engaged in the activity of walking down a hallway themselves, so as to come up with some idea of what people might actually say and do when walking down a hallway, instead of all this ridiculous stuff they've got these characters saying and doing.
Overall, this movie just took way too many liberties with my intelligence. Like, toss a hand grenade at a carnosaur that's five feet away, and it blows the dino to bits but doesn't injure the person who threw it. Who is still standing five feet away. Or the guy who falls three stories onto a bed of steel pipes, and then complains he broke a rib (wouldn't he have probably broken his spine, considering he landed on his back?), and then within a couple of minutes he's not injured at all. Or the dinosaur that breaks through a steel door that looks to be three inches thick. What, they have a three inch thick steel door and then put a latch on it like you'd use for the screen door on your porch? Or the entire ending of the film, which follows the ending of Aliens except on 1/1,000th the budget. After seeing it, if you think about it for even two seconds, you'll realize it made no sense whatsoever.

Carnosaur 2 (My rating),
By A Customer
This review is from: Carnosaur 2 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I would give this great movie a rating of R For some Strong horror violence and gore and some language. There is only two gorey scenes, when the women is torn apart by a raptor. The raptor ripes her arm off and ripe opens her chest. Another scene is when the T-Rex is out and picks up a guy by his head and soon enough the head ripes off. Great gore. The close up scenes of the T-Rex are the same scenes from the first one. All they did was take that scene and stick it on the tape after. If you look closely when the T-Rex is suffering the groung is dirt and should be floor. All they did was take the scene from the first one. Awesome movie though. There is no breast, 2 gorey scenes, some swearing and lots of fun.

A B-movie Lover's Feast!,
By Josh Nelson "Rock N Roll Never Dies!!!" (Calgary, Canada) - See all my reviews

If Aliens and Jurassic Par were thrown into the mix, Carnosaur 2 would sure to be spawned! This is such a great flick for those of you who din't like everything so ridiciously big budgeted. The sets are convincing, the actors are decent, and while the dinos look rubber as hell (They really steal the show.)
During the whole ordeal of a repair group sent into the Yucca Mining facility to fix up the communications and coming face to face with a load of velociraptors and one pissed off T-Rex, this is a B-Movie fav of mine that should not be missed by anyone!

So much for relying on the stars rateing system. I paid $.79 and it was worth every penny but I got ripped off for the dimes, nickels and quarters. The plot of the evil top secret government instalation is so old that if I had known that was what it was I wouldn't have paid even that much for it. If you like that kind of thing get Resident Evil it's much grosser and equally plotless.

NOT ENOUGH BITE,
By Michael Butts (Berkeley Springs, WV USA) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Carnosaur II (DVD)
CARNOSAUR II tries to outdo its predecessor by waiting a while to show us the monsters and by using more refined filming. However, somewhere in this translation, the movie failed to deliver the expected thrills.First off, we have a very noticeable flaw in the script. This movie indicates that dinosaur DNA had been harvested; in the original, Diane Ladd took sole credit for creating this virus. Secondly, the movie used the same device to battle the creature: the construction machine attacking and ultimately killing the dinosaur. Third, how many more movies are we going to have the person who saves the day be a kid? Hard to believe this catatonic youngster can be so bright and brave and outmuscle the adults. I Have nothing against kids, but am tired of giving them such weight in a film, more than likely to attract a younger audience. The acting is sub-par: John Savage and his Brooklyn accent; Cliff DeYoung chewing up the scenery in the expected governmental conspiracy role; seventies character actor Don Stroud with a patch on his eye is wasted; and Rick Dean who tries to be comic relief in the role of Monk acts like he's reading teleprompter cards. There's not as much suspense as the original, and I will probably watch the third movie, just to see if they try anything a little more original. Highly overrated, but a good time passer.

Carnosaur 2,
By A Customer
This review is from: Carnosaur 2 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The carnosaurs are back for another bite and this time their really hungry. When Yucca Mountains power has gone out a crew of workers are sent to fix the job. When they get there they don't find anyone but a kid. Soon they find out that the power isn't the only problum. Dinosaurs are the main problum. With little improved special effects carnosaur 2 will be more well known than the first one.

Awesome Dinosaur Movie,

This review is from: Carnosaur 2 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Carnosaur 2 is well done. I would give the special effects 88%, the acting 95%, the plot 98%, the language 40%, the gore 98% and the time of the movie a 79%. It is a very good movie. Corman should have tried to make it longer than 1hour 23 minutes. The movie dosen't have as much gore than the first one except for two scenes, when a person gets an arm riped off and a head bitten off. All in all it is very awesome.

GREAT MOVIE!!!,

i love this movie. it is one of my favorites. this movie has a very good plot. the only thing is that it's like aliens. but that's alright. this movie is better than the first one. the movie has a good actor in it. he is called John Savage. i like the idea of how the raptors are patroling the building and eating anything or anyone who comes into veiw. all in all the movie is very well put together. there is a big t-rex at the end. the special effects aren't anything to cheer about but what do you expect from a B- movie. i love it so much a bought a copy. i want to get the dvd so bad. this is a great movie and is worth [price]. i love it.

ALIENS????,
By Brennan (Roanoke, IN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Carnosaur 2 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This movie was MUCH MUCH better than the original Carnosaur. Although the plot is a rip on James Cameron's ALIENS. (Problems at a government facility, one kid survives, an elite team sent in to investigate, characters picked off here and there by scary creatures, and a must-escape-from-a-building-about-to-be-turned-into-nuclear-dust scene.) The effects kinda suck, but the dinosaurs looked very scary. The tyrannosaurus head model at the end is pretty real, but when the camera switches to a shot of a small scale modle of the rex battleing a fork lift...just doesn't work. But, it's a very good B-grade movie.
