5.0 out of 5 stars Some classic stuff here!
There are some priceless gems here in Vol. 4, which is why I generously gave it 5 stars. Much of the "good stuff" here comes from the guest stars on both shows.
If I remember correctly (I've already watched several volumes!), the Wiggins/Tugball sketch debuts here. Both Carol & Tim are a study in how two particular comedic talents mesh perfectly, Carol playing the...

2.0 out of 5 stars not worth the money
I bought this particular DVD - (volume four) on the strength of one of the reviewers who said the "Mrs Mowiggins" sketch was included (I even ordered it expedited). No such sketch was included - only a bunch of other ones which were very dated and which hardly made me laugh. It really soured my trust in these reviews because I just blew $60 on a lousy DVD I most...

This review is from: The Carol Burnett Show - The Collector's Edition / Vol 4 (DVD)
There are some priceless gems here in Vol. 4, which is why I generously gave it 5 stars. Much of the "good stuff" here comes from the guest stars on both shows.
If I remember correctly (I've already watched several volumes!), the Wiggins/Tugball sketch debuts here. Both Carol & Tim are a study in how two particular comedic talents mesh perfectly, Carol playing the ultimate dumb blond secretary & Tim counterbalancing as the long-suffering boss with a bad toupee & funny accent. The "intercom" bit is one of those exercises in frustration that a team like Laurel & Hardy milked for all it's worth.
Rock Hudson & Nancy Walker appear together as sort of the "Mutt & Jeff" of Astaire/Rogers dance teams, and the pairing is priceless! Another string of commercial parodies is another reason to watch.
Frequent guest Roddy McDowall is in the other show, showing his flair for comedy timing in the movie parody "The Little Foxies". Carol & company are at the top of their comic forms here, and its a sketch which ranks right up there behind the notorious "Went With The Wind".
Another enjoyable volume!
