5.0 out of 5 stars If you have a chance...see M-Pact in person, March 29, 2000

These accapella singers are wonderful! Not only is this CD a year-round treat, their previous CD's are also great...especially, "A Mile in My Shoes" off "2".

5.0 out of 5 stars The Carol Commision, December 8, 1999

Possibly the greatest Christmas recording to date! With m-pact's tight harmonies and great chords, this one is a must. I have not listened to anything else in the last week! The great thing about the CD is there are traditional christmas songs with a jazz/funk feel, and some other songs that I have never heard. The arrangements are done by some the greatest in the industry, including Cedric Dent of the great Take 6. I still cant believe how beautiful the high tenor's voice is. This CD is a must for any collection. Both young and old should have this!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome a cappella!, November 21, 1999

This is a very fine album, well produced, but not over produced, full of polished performances. The Singers are excellent, Men with such pure and clear Upper Tesituras as to make any soprano jealous. If your tastes include Take 6, Singers Unlimited, Transfer, New York Voices, and even some moments of Swingle, You'll be enthralled by this album.

I was highly impressed by the vocal talent and stylistic versatility in this project! I love their sound, especially on 'Carolling, Carolling'!!! They have surely made their mark in the industry! Regretfully, I am saddened by the fact that this recording is the only one that I can find from these artists. I would love to hear more from this group. They are the bomb! Can't wait for the next cd!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is 5 GUYS?, October 16, 2006

Every season when I get this out and share it with friends, they give me the same initial question: that's a guy singing that high part? Yup. Britt Quentin's voice soars above the top, but this is definitely a beautiful blended project. The group has gone to the top vocal arrangers of the world to provide them with the best product to deliver, and there are truly some great creative moments throughout. If you need some help in getting into the Christmas spirit, you have over 9 minutes of vocal soundscape to get you there in "Christmas Time Is Here." There is wide variety, but this is not your father's do-wop 50's vocal quartet. And I guess that's what I like about m-pact and their arrangements. This is truly a 21st Century A Cappella group: a sound for the new milennium. If you only buy one Christmas CD this season, buy this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars m-pact gives listeners that year-round holiday cheer, March 22, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Carol Commission (Audio CD)
I recently obtained a copy of m-pact:The Carol Commision, and I have to admit that artistically, this is the best Christmas CD I've heard in a long time. After seeing them in concert and hearing their previous recordings, it's no wonder that they called upon the best arrangers in the vocal jazz community to select eight tunes for the best contemporary vocal jazz group in the world. One of the great feel good tunes was the Matthew P. Selby arrangement of "Carol of the Drum". While it started out sounding like a public service announcement, it gave this listener the chance to groove to an inspirational message filled with funk that won't hit the fan anytime soon. Great voices + awesome arrangements = arguably the most timeless Christmas CD ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely fantastic!, November 14, 2003

M-Pact is simply the best. Their vocal talent is off the charts, and they have a balance that any non-acappella group would kill to have. While I do not enjoy this CD as much as 2 (another one of their CDs), it is still one of the best CDs in the genre and probably my favorite Christmas album of all time. Recommended to anyone who loves music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply the Best, March 9, 2007
This review is from: The Carol Commission (Audio CD)
This is one of those CDs that actually makes you look forward to the end of the year and the passing of Thanksgiving so you can play your favorite Christmas collections. The arrangements are divine and those voices...those voices! Having had experience in five-part a cappella arranging and singing, I can assure you this recording was not an easy accomplishment. This is what the little boy groups on the big labels wish they could sound like. Frankly, I wish MY group had sounded like this too!

5.0 out of 5 stars If you think the albums are good..., December 17, 2009
This review is from: The Carol Commission (Audio CD)
I've seen m-pact twice in concert and the most mind-blowing thing about this group is that they are every bit as good live as they are on album - all while dancing and having an obviously great time! If you EVER have a chance to see them live, do it. They're also as open and approachable as they are talented. After both concerts I saw, they stuck around to meet fans. I bought this album at one of their concerts and they all signed it. Love these guys and love this album. Favorite tracks include Carol of the Drum, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, and O Come, O Come Emmanuel, but every track is excellent.
