I just love this book. I have it laying out to dry right now, I have drooled on every page. This book is fabulous, I can't believe how many different star patterns have been included in it. The step by step instructions look are so easy to follow also. I am going to make several of the patterns. I am so glad Carol included layout combinations using different star patterns. What a great idea. And it even comes with a wonderful CD that is just fabulous! This is a "must have" book for beginners and experienced paper piecer's.

I have tried unsucessfully to do paper piecing before and just didn't understand the concept. This book had many pictures to help you along the way. There are not a lot of pieces in each patch, so I think it is a great book to start out with. those of you who have thought about paper pieceing...give it a try and you too will be hooked. the finished stars are beautiful and PERFECT points every time.

I've been wanting to try this for a long time, but couldn't find the book anywhere. Amazon had it and now I am all set. This book takes the video one step further and now I have every confidence I can Paper Piece wih ease!

Until now I had never attempted paper piecing, but with this book it was so easy. Tips, CD, pictures, the designs, were out of this world. Love all the possibilities using just a simple square then combining them into a 9 patch block. Thanks Carol

We ordered this for my wife who is all wrapped up in quilting. This is one of several of Carol Doak's books, and it is especially interesting bececause it reports that C. Doaks has and sells a special paper for paper piecing, which save the whole house from being covered by very tiny pieces of floating paper. All of C Doak's books have many, many patterns of various styles and colors from which to choose. She is very impressive!

I recently took a class from Carol Doak using the Simply Sensational 9-Patch Stars. It was totally fun and entertaining and I completed the Bright Stars Wall Quilt. The instructions are easy to follow and the results are spectacular. This book also included a Foundation Factory CD to load onto your computer to print the paper-piecing patterns onto Carol Doak's Foundation Paper. Nothing could be simpler.

This is the best thing I have seen on paper piecing. Carol is the expert.

This book not only gives you patterns but the disc included lets you see step by step how to paper piece. Like all her books, Carol Doak, includes a lesson on how to paper piece giving step by step instructions with clear pictures.

In this book she's gone a step farther than just giving you patterns for blocks, she has given you the ability to be the designer. You can take any center block and add to it any corner and side blocks you wish to create your own unique block. Add this versatility to the wide variety of fabrics available and even if you come up with the same block design, your quilt will be yours alone.

She even discusses directional fabric (stripes and checks, etc.) where to use them and where not to. Further she includes information on changing the size the blocks and determine the yardage you need to complete the block if you change the size.

I took her suggestion to take the book to a copy center and had it spiral bound. Now it lays flat on my copier and stays open where I need it to beside my machine.

The only trouble with that is the spine of the book is cut off and I have to pull the book from the bookcase to find the one I want. It would be nice if the books came spiral bound so as to not have this problem, but the ease of use is worth the trouble.

I purchased the software from Foundation factory so I can print the blocks any size I want. Like most of her books there are several quilt projects offered which are Simply Sensational.

This is really different from most pattern books. You will select a center section, side sections and point sections to create your own variations of the stars designed by Carol. The choices are almost infinite! Of course, you could also use these options to create four-patch stars, too, giving even more choices.
