Quick moving, enthralling story,
By Bonnie Clyde (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Carol (Paperback)
I read "Carol" in one day - it was a gripping story full of intrique and thought-provoking dialogue. I particularly enjoyed how Highsmith catapults you into the mind of the characters. In particular, with Therese, it fascinating how much could be conveyed with just a few sparse lines of dialogue.
There was a feeling of a bit of a thriller in this novel, though nothing particularly happens. And for those worried off about erotic love scenes, they are artfully done and are not graphic. I found this a very interesting book and a good teacher of how loving someone of the same sex must have been in the 50s. |
