5.0 out of 5 stars Why wasn't this a hit album?
With all the bad pop music out there, and with Carol Bayer Sager's reputation as one of the priemier songwriters, I have always wondered why her two albumns didn't become hits. Both have great songs and everyone I play them for wants copies because they also love her voice. Finally, it appears they have been reissued; but how many will buy them at this price? My wife...

2.0 out of 5 stars CAN'T SING A LICK!!!
The seventies produced some of the most dreadful music of all time. This album could be the soundtrack for every bad chick flick ever made. Imagine Wildman Fischer with strep throat and you've nailed the vocal prowess of Ms. Sager. As memory serves she was Mrs. Burt Bacharach for a time. I bet not a single stem of their crystal survived that union. She makes Randy Newman...

My wife tells me it's worth it to her, so I'm one! I hope one day everyone once again will get a chance to hear Carol Bayer Sager songs performed by Carol Bayer Sager.

If you are familiar with this album, then you know it will carry you back to an uncomfortable young stage of your life where you thought you knew a lot, but you actually did not. There was someone you wanted to meet, but you were as shy as a violet. Later, after you managed to forge a relationship with that person, something (developing wisdom?) told you it really might be best to leave while you're in love, before you forget the meaning of the word -- and after things cratered, you seriously entertained thoughts of being dumb enough to steal away again.

If you were that age when you first heard it, you know it's a tear-jerker left over from those times that were so tender and meaningless, though heavy with the potential for romantic errors and worse. Save up the [$$$]and buy it, as an anthem to the relief of having all that inexperience behind you. Lessons learned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Carole's Uncanny Ability to Speak to the Heart..., March 20, 2005
This review is from: Carole Bayer Sager (Audio CD)
I stumbled across this LP in a used bookstore in Texas several years ago. Recognizing Carole's name crediting many, many songs that I have enjoyed listening to by other artists, I thought I would give it a listen to get a better sense of her own interpretation of her music.

Boy, I'm glad I did! What I found was music that speaks to the heart. Some of it, I found very difficult to listen to because it evokes such strong feelings. Profound ones at that, from the cautiously heartbreaking lyrics and music of "Aces" to the zaniness of "You're Moving Out Today", to the uncertainty and timid sound of "Shy as a Violet", there is something for everyone who holds the magic of Carole's prolific music career close to them.

Suprisingly, I have found it available on CD...and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who respects the power of great, emotive music with heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Old Friend!, December 27, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Carole Bayer Sager (Audio CD)
I bought this cassette many years ago in a sale bin and loved it. The truth in her phrasing and hearing her do her own music is a real treat. Her voice is uniquely hers, tho she has shared her musical thoughts with the world. Altho pricey, I'm pleased to see this available so I can once again enjoy my old friend! Truly a work of art for the ladies!

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly a GREAT album, even better on CD, February 25, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Carole Bayer Sager (Audio CD)
I was introduced to Carol Bayer Sager's album when I was in college in the late 70's. I was mesmerized by her sultry voice that was also filled with innocence and heartbreak. Her own recording of the lyrics she composed is absolutely delicious - far better than the other fine female recording artists who enjoyed more popularity than she did - Melissa Manchester, Jane Oliver, etc. Another treat - to hear Bette Midler singing harmony on one song with Carole on the album.

Her second album (Carole Bayer Sager too), and third album (Sometimes Late at Night) are also fine but not as wonderful as this one.

I have been a fan/admirer for over 20 years, and was pleased to see her first album released on compact disc. The second album is not available on CD (why not?) and her third album is due out in CD format in late March 2001.

4.0 out of 5 stars Down memory lane, July 6, 2002
This review is from: Carole Bayer Sager (Audio CD)
While the composer really can't sing all that well, it really doesn't matter. The album features some great tunes Bayer Sager wrote way back when, and it's interesting to hear her take on those tunes; it's also fun to hear the later luminaries who assist on the some of the tracks: Peter Allen, Melissa Manchester, Bette Midler. My particular favorite, because of its nutty lyrics, is "You're Moving Out Today." I have always loved this song; it's just too crazy not to love. As well, there's the touching "Come in From the Rain," and "I'd Rather Leave While I'm In Love." The charts take you right back to the 70s; they are so typical of the musical arrangements of the era. All in all, it's a nice trip back into the past.

5.0 out of 5 stars Soundtrack of my life, July 30, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Carole Bayer Sager (Audio CD)
I've been listening to this "album" since it was first released in the 70's. I keep taping it and wearing out the tapes. It'll be good to have it on CD, however, I'll wait until the price comes down.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have album., December 13, 2004

This review is from: Carole Bayer Sager (Audio CD)
I bought this recently. Having had it on LP I had wondered if I would ever hear to this album again.
The availability and price held me back from buying it but it was well worth the wait.
Yes, her voice is not that great but it does not matter when you have beautiful words and melodies.
Consider the contributors to this album such as Peter Allen, Bette Midler, Madeline Khan, Paul Buckmaster, Marvin Hamlesh & many others. This is a must have album full of beautiful & entertaining songs.

Buy it now, you want be sorry.
