About the Author

Eric Horan is a commercial photographer based in Beaufort, South Carolina He graduated from the Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs with a degree in Commercial Art and Photography. His work includes editorial (magazines) and corporate and commercial advertising for the resort market.

He has received awards from: Carnegie Museum’s Natural World Photographic Exhibition, Studio Magazine’s International Annual Design Competition, and Timberpeg’s Annual Architectural Award for Photographic Excellence, South Carolina Wildlife Magazine’s Annual Wildlife Photography Exhibition, and the Piccolo Spoleto Festival Art Exhibition.

National publications where his work has appeared include: Business Week, Cruising World, Fortune, McCall’s, and New York Times Sunday Travel, Outside, Sail, Smithsonian, Tennis, and Time.

Book publications include: South Carolina, A Compass American Guidebook (a Fodor's Publication), EXPOSURE, (100 of Outside Magazine’s finest photographs over 15 years), Writers Digest. Eric is working on two photographic books, both with a publishing date of January 2004. Carolina Nature- a photographer’s view of the natural history in the Carolinas is a collection of Eric’s work from the last fifteen years, which he has spent working in the region. With 128 pages and 140 images it is rich with luscious landscapes and diverse wildlife from the Lowcountry. Lowcountry A to Z is a children’s book written by Betsy Strickland of Hilton Head Island and illustrated by Eric Horan. Full of the Lowcountry’s flora and fauna from A to Z. Eric has also produced the Lowcountry wall calendar since 2000. It showcases Eric’s natural history work from the coastal southeast with 12 large monthly photographs and a smaller one printed on the grid each month. New this year is the Hilton Head Island version of his popular calendar featuring a dramatic cover shot from the island.

Eric’s photographic products are available online including: art prints, books, mouse pads, note cards, posters and his annual Lowcountry wall calendar.
