I am dis-abled & my house is built on stilts, due to the river I am on. At any rate, of course when I purchased my home, I was healthy & the stair's did not bother me....some years later & many surgeries, I found it more difficult to climb the steps, let alone carry all my packages! Enter, the "HANG'em HIGH HOIST"!! my son mounted it, we hung a large 2 handle, sturdy bag I had, & now when I get home, I put my bag's in the large bag, go up-stair's & pull the rope, on the Hoist & BAMM! Here are all my bags!! A WONDERFUL resolution to my problem's I have been dealing with for way too long! THANK-YOU to the INVENTER of the item!!! periwinkle

The quality is OK. However, while rated at 250 pounds, the mechanical advantage is only 2:1. If you are going to lift 150 pounds, for example, you have to pull the rope with 75 pounds of force. To make it really useful, I had to add a couple of extra pulleys and make other modifications to raise the mechanical advantage to 4:1. The position lock mechanism is really useful and is the reason I purchased this hoist in the first place. It was strong enough to hold the 150 pound generator I was lifting.

Bought one of these for a semi-permanent installation in my attic to help lift boxes up there. Unfortunately the rope was barely long enough to comfortably reach from the ground as the support beam I mounted this on is about 15 ft up. I was also concerned about the hook coming out of the eye bolt it was mounted on and also feared the cargo net straps slipping out of the lower hook. So I replaced the rope with a longer one, mounted the pulley to the eye bolt with a carabiner, and also replaced the hook on the ratchet mechanism with another carabiner. Now I can easily lift boxes into the attic by myself!

I am using the hang'm hi to lift my heavy punching bag to the ceiling of the garage. It is out of the way whenever my car is in the garage. It is very easy to lift out of the way and equally easy to lower when I use the bag. Great piece of hardware.

I had been messing with chains and pulleys to get a 110 pound bag hung from my basement ceiling but it was always clumsy and awkward. This thing hangs easily. Pulling the big rope lifts the hook and payload, and the ratchet keeps it up. Pulling the little rope releases the ratchet. Make sure you have the load supported before you release the ratchet or it will come down on you hard.

I just the hoist to move air conditioners into my attic via a small access hole. Works very well. Has a nice ratio and the length of rope is long enough to go down the 12' I need. Break is an added bonus.

Just got this an hour ago, and this is a well-made hoist. Comes with 2 hooks and 3/8" rope plus a narrower one for the release. All you do is install a ring or hook in the ceiling. So simple. I used it for a 80-pound punching bag and added a spring to counteract the bouncing otherwise it will strip the ceiling screw threads. Am going to buy two more just in case I might need to hang a bicycle or another bag. I've seen too many good items that disappeared from Amazon.com or store shelves so better to have them in storage.
