I couldn't agree more with Amazon reviewer "Violetta". This is a great album by a very talented man. I found out about this album after seeing the movie that Seu Jorge starred in "Cidade de Deus" ("City of God" - where he played "Mané Galinha" aka "Handsome Ned"). After seeing the movie I bought the soundtrack which he sung the title song to ("Convite Para Vida"). I was so impressed that I thought I would give his album a try and it was well worth it! All his songs are funky and upbeat and very reminiscent of the funk/soul inspired sound of the 70's, with of course a modern twist to it. All the meanwhile he still stays true to his samba roots and is very proud to be Brazilian and showcases this well in his music. The title song "Carolina" is truly addictive! I can't stop playing it.

Seu Jorge Is THE SHIT,

Screw the Life Aquatic covers! They're wonderful, original, and perfectly fit the movie, but they are only one smidget of Jorge's talent. This man is a force of Portuguese nature--a Brazilian whirlwhind of wicked beats, scrumtrillescent hooks, samba jam out, and set your ass on fire grooves. If your one for lilting acoustic numbers, this is not your album. This one has "Carolina," the song that if you ask any Brazilan--even if they don't know Seu Jorge--they will know "Carolina." This album a a grooe session, a Brazilian beach party that ain't stopping until the sun rises. If you want Bowie, buy the soundtrack. If you want your mind blown and your ass permantly singed from the heat of excessvie latin influenced rump shakin', buy this album.

If you like Seu Jorge's David Bowie covers from the film A Life Aquatic, then I'm sure you'll like this album... Great modern day Brazilian music.
