4.0 out of 5 stars Not for very dry hair
I think this is a great product for someone who doesn't need a lot of moisturizing. I have very, very dry hair so my only complaint with this product is that it doesn't last all day or night for me. If I put it on my 3c-4a curls in the a.m., by the evening my hair is dry again. And I can't apply it at night, sleep in a cap and just get up and go in the morning. I...

I am uncertain of the proper way to store the hair butter. I had been keeping it in cupboards and this, apparently, is not a good idea. Twice I've had to skim mildew from the surface of the product. At this point, I'm keeping it chilled in the fridge for fear that I'll have to toss this months-old jar of HB out in the trash.

3.0 out of 5 stars NOT EXACTLY WHAT I EXPECTED, February 19, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have heard so much about Carol's Daughter's products and I had been wanting to try something from the line. I am African American and I do hair professionally. I have very long thick hair that constantly needs moisture. I want to address the smell : It is very VERY bold. It is not so much unpleasant as it is loud. If I were sensitive to smells I'd definitely have a problem with this product. I would apply it on a weekend so that it would calm down before returning to work. It doesn't really do a whole lot for my hair unless my hair is wet and the instructions is for it to be applied to the scalp---but I don't like clogging my scalp with ointments. It works really well on my daughter's hair and her hair is finer and a smoother texture than mine. I don't really see the benefit for people with TRULY "nappy" hair to use this. I will probably continue to buy for my children and for me to use after a shampoo.

2.0 out of 5 stars carol's daughter hair butter, February 17, 2009
This product was not what i expect a use it after shampooing it tends to leave a film on the hair. It goes on smoothly, however, as it starts to dry the hair become hard. The smell is also too strong, this is my first purchase of Carol's daughters product and I expected more.

I would have to use more or use another product. But that's just my hair. It works pretty well on my son's hair. I just have to continue my quest for all day moisture!!

Very Rich,

a little heavy though, can cause buildup. But still, excellent quality.

3.0 out of 5 stars nice product- just not for me, February 19, 2007
It made my hair feel a little waxie. but it did give my curls great bounce!!

I may use it again when i want my curls to really tighten up, but not for everyday use.

5.0 out of 5 stars great product... a must buy!, February 21, 2008

I have relaxed, long, and thick hair... but I constantly work on keeping it moisturized. I've tried so many prodcucts, but Carol's Daughter actually works. I only need a little bit. It gives great shine, and makes my hair super soft. I was a little apprehensive about getting it at first, but it's great, and my hair breaks less. I'm definitely sticking with Carol's Daughter!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Feels good BUT just doesn't have the moisturizing effects desired, March 16, 2011
I got this as a sample from Ricky's. I really wanted to buy the Miss Jessie's baby-butter cream, but decided to give this a shot.
Ehhhh....I have really thick, coarse & mostly dry 4a/b type African American hair.
My hair has been very dehydrated for the past few moths & breaking so I am still in pursuit of the right moisturizers and cleaners. =/
Oh well, the Carol's Daughter hair butter smells great, feels great, but it doesn't moisturize for long unless I use a generous amount. Secondly, it does weigh down the hair.

I have MIXED feelings. I think it works better on straight hair or hair types with loser curls. It just didn't really work for me!

I will maybe try it again. I hope this helped.

Peace & love!

~Pepper

3.0 out of 5 stars Just......ok....., November 5, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've tried multiple Carol's Daughter products and for me, each of them has been kind of hit or miss. I'm in love with the Mimosa Hair Honey and the entire Tui line, but there are a couple of products (Hair milk/Healthy Hair Butter) I've tried that weren't up to par with what I was hoping to get from them. I do love that the Healthy Hair Butter does a decent job at moisturizing my hair but the smell is pretty overwhelming..almost as if I crushed up a box of sandalwood fragranced insence and then rubbed it throughout my entire head. I paid a pretty penny for it though, so I'm going to try to stick it out and hopefully I'll get used to the smell. DEFINITELY not a product for someone with fragrance-induced allergies.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for natural hair, June 20, 2008

This review is from: Carol's Daughter 8 oz. Healthy Hair Butter (Misc.)
I'll be honest, the smell of the product took some getting used to.It is very distinctive of the patchouli and at first I thought I reeked of incense. But it worked wonders on my locked hair. The locks are very shiny and soft with the use of very little product. This was my first time using Carol's Daughter and I am pleased so far...
