5.0 out of 5 stars might be the best solo piano cd ever, December 5, 2008
By
This review is from: Carols (Audio CD)
i came across this at a used cd shop in the 80s & what a treat this is. 10 concise & reverent carols but with some tasteful improvisation just to make the tunes whimsical as well. it's one of my top 10 xmas cds (i have hundreds) & every year i play it to get in the right mood for the holiday season.

too bad the cd is now rare & oop but if u can find one, grab it.

5.0 out of 5 stars missing Sandy this Christmas, December 17, 2007
By
This review is from: Carols (Audio CD)
I have seen a Christmas Carol too many times over the years for it to be the quintessential stimulus of "that spirit" but if I hear any of the tracks from Sandy Owen's piano keys I know THE SEASON is about. I do not need pine scented candles or automated Santa's hula-hooping to Jingle Bell Rock. Just the peaceful and spirit-lifting chords of these renditions by a classic jazz pianist. My old Cassette is getting worn and I cannot find "Carols" on a CD but my son has downloaded them onto his Zune and he lets me visit Christmas whenever I want. Hear Sandy Owen play and you will feel this Christmas is even more special than watching Jimmy Stewart, Chevy Chase or even a Daisy BB Gun wrapped Christmas Story.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite Christmas albums, October 18, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Carols (Audio CD)
Sandy Owen's single piano resonates a quiet beauty on these Christmas classics. The artist's reverence for the material is evident, and the songs are given largely traditional treatments, with not many contemporary stylings. This suits me fine, as I have always thought that Christmas music does not need to be "jazzed up."

Listen to these great piano renditions of the eternal Christmas favorites, and a warm glow will fill your home.
