In Australia this is the only toilet you will ever see.

Unless I can adjust the water level, which I have no clue how to do, we are getting rid of it.
Jincie

I installed two Caroma dual flush toilets in my previous home and miss them! They work every time and never had any problems in the 4 years I owned them. The large water area is suprising for such a low-water toilet, and the bowl stays incredibly clean and low maintenance. The dual flush often started rather humorous conversations with fascinated guests. I am an architect, and the clean lines not only look great, but the toilet is "right height" and narrow, allowing comfort and flexibility in small spaces. I actually installed the toilets myself, as a complete novice, and found the instructions and handling to be easy for one person.

PS- For the reviewer who complained about smell, this usually has to do with the seal at the base of the toilet and a level installation- not the toilet itself. If you had a plumber install, bring them back to re-do!

In Australia this is the only toilet you will ever see. It just works better than any other. Even in the half flush mode it ''usually'' gets all the poop down with one flush. I currently have 2 highly rated Toto's that I would glady trade for a Caroma. If you are in a water restricted/septic system area this will pay for itself.

I bought this toilet when I remodelled our common bath.
Both my contractor and plumber were skeptical at first and
started negotiating more to accomdate. I simply refused saying
that I would install it myself. When installed both were thrilled
on easy installation and the quiet and perfect operation.
It saves water and looks elegant.

I bought it from Anazon market place through
Wholesale Plumbing and very impressed
with the customer service, packing and follow up.
Thank you Paul

More than satisfied.

Just today the flush valve broke after 2 years of use. It is one little plastic part that clips into the rest of the unit and pulls the valve up. I feel like this part could have been made better and I hope that the issue is addressed in the replacement part I buy. That being said, replacing the flush unit is a piece of cake. You just twist it out and then you can twist a new one in.

Also this toilet has not clogged at all in 2 years of use. As a result of that I still think I might buy these for the rest of the house at some point, though maybe I'll have a spare flush unit kept handy.

---Below is the original review I wrote 2 years ago---
OK there are many things that I like about this toilet so I will summarize.

- It uses an adapter that fits over the standard toilet drain with the conventional wax seal. It is far easier to install this way because you can actually see where you are putting the adapter and where the wax is going. Also if the toilet moves it doesn't move the adapter or the seal. This is huge improvement over the conventional design as far as preventing leaks.

- It flushes well and saves water.

- It is one piece so there is no worry about leaks between the bowl and the tank.

- The opening seems a little larger than the standard round opening although smaller than the elongated opening. It might just be a well designed toilet seat or it might be a different standard that is used in Australia.

- The actual toilet slips into the adapter and there is a plastic splash guard. It slips in far enough that leaks wouldn't be a worry, but this is probably the reason one person complained about sewer smells. It won't do much to stop them where it slips in.

I have had this toilet for about 6 months now and am overly impressed with the quality and workmanship that went into this product.
I had to remove the toilet a couple times to install a new flooring and the idea that the plastic flange remains in place and I didn't have to purchase new wax rings is a nice feature. The only drawback is there are 2 mounting holes in the back that are impossible to see from above, but makes it difficult to install as there was no template and since I have a cement floor I had one shot to get the holes drilled properly. What I did was took a small pencil paintbrush and after I centered the toilet I painted a dab of paint thru the holes onto the cement floor, then when I removed the toilet I had my marks exact. Because the thickness of the base makes its virtually impossible to mark the holes any other way. There are sleeves that go thru the mounting holes that the mounting bolts go thru to prevent scraping against the porcelain, then there are plastic caps that snap over the sleeves hiding the screw heads, very clean look.
Now I never got around to sealing the base of my toilet with silicone as recommended and I have NO smell of sewer gasses. Should that become a problem in the future I will, however if you ever have to remove the toilet then it will be that much more difficult.
As for the one poster there is a way to adjust the water level, the push down probes have adjustments on them that determines how much of the flush valve gets depressed releasing water, you could also hold the button for a second and that will allow a little more water to flow into the bowl..., granted the water level is not like a traditional toilet and you will never see water half way up the bowl.
