About the Author
Born in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, and raised in the surrounding rural community, Randall Davis has always been inspired by wild things. As a youth, he fished, hunted, camped and trapped furbearers in many areas around his home.
In high school, his interests expanded to conservation, biology and zoology. He also found literature and English fascinating. At this time, he began weaving the these subjects together and starte writing stories about the outdoors.
In 1984 his first outdoor article was published in "Fur-Fish-Game" magazine. It sparked an interest in serious writing and ushered in a blossoming lifestyle. Davis' rural background and early experiences helped form solid foundations to many of his articles. At the time "Carp & Catfish" was written, he had authored close to 100 articles.
In 1986 Davis was accepted as an associate member in the Outdoor Writers Association of America. Since then, because of perpetual publishing successes, he has become an active member. In 1990, he joined the Association of Great Lakes Outdoor Writers as an active member.
Along with his writing credentials, Davis has published many photographs. Most photos are used to illustrate his articles. Some have been published for magazine covers and to complement other writer's articles.

It delivers on its title,

This is a nice, small book on doughbaits. Its an American perspective on a typically English type of fishing ... at least the emphasis on carp bait. While informational on its own, its also a great way to introduce kids to fishing. They can use these recipes to get engaged in the sport even when they aren't fishing. I have found children will focus longer on fishing if they have some vested interest in the preparation for the trip. This is a great, easy to read book to do just that. He also throws in some standard information about rigging and general carp techniques for the unintiated. I'm glad I bought it.
